Preventive paediatrics is defined as the

prevention of disease and promotion of


physical , mental and social wellbeing of
children with the aim of attaining a positive
health.

MCH can be defined as promoting,
Preventing,therapeutic or rehabilitation
facility or care for the mother and child.

Prenatal services (before delivery)
1.The first visit ,irrespective of when it occurs,
should include the following components:
 Health history
 Physical examination
 Laboratory examination:
 Complete urine analysis
 Laboratory examination:
 Complete urine analysisStoolexamination
 Complete blood count
 Serological examination
 Blood grouping and Rh determination
 On subsequent visits:
 Physical examination
 Laboratory tests should include urine
examination, haemoglobin estimate
 Immunization against tetanus
 Home visiting by a female health worker
 Iron and folic acid supplementation
