    Narrow weaving involves fabrics 6 to 8 inches wide produced on looms with fast edges on both sides. Traditionally made using fly shuttle looms but now using positive driven shuttle looms (narrow looms) with up to 100 shuttles in two looms operated by one person and running at speeds from 160 to 180 picks per minute. When the loom stops, many shuttles become idle.

    Narrow weaving

    edges or selvedges on both sides.
    • Fly shuttle loom (plain looms) to positive
    driven shuttle looms (narrow looms).
    • 100 shuttles in each of two looms handled by
    one operator
    • Looms running from 160 to 180 PPM
    • When the loom is stopped for any reason, so
    many shuttles are idle.
