    Conduction:-

    Compaction
     Application of mechanical energy to a soil to rearrange the
    particles and reduce void ratio
     It is an instantaneous process to increase the dry density of soil
    by expulsion and compression of pore air only.
    Purpose of compaction

     Reduce settlement under working load.


     Increase shear strength with increase in dry density.
