Project initiation process


Project initiation aims to ensure ‘a solid foundation for the project' is established. A good
project initiation enables the organisation to understand the work that needs to be done to
deliver the project’s outcome before committing a significant amount of effort in the project.

Statement of work (SOW)
Is a narrative description of the work required for the project and the end results provided
under the contract. The complexity of SOW is determined by the desires of top management,
the customer and/or user groups (Kerzner, 2017).

Enterprise environmental factors
EEFs are conditions, mot under the control of the project team, that influence, constrain or
direct the project. They are inputs to many project management processes, especially for
most of planning processes.
