What is an Interview?
• A structured meeting of minimum two people.

• Arranged to examine the suitability of the candidate

• The candidate is tested for subject knowledge, skills


and desired behavior in a very limited time

Introduction to Competency Framework
A competency framework defines the knowledge,
skills, and attributes needed for people within an
organization. Each individual role will have its own
set of competencies needed to perform the job
effectively.

Appearance
• Dress formally and be well groomed. You will never get
a second chance to make a good impression.

Common Reasons for Rejection
• Vague and irrelevant answers to the questions

• An unprofessional resume or not in the prescribed


format

• Very fidgety: little eye contact; nervous mannerism,


such as playing with hair, shaking legs, nail biting etc.

• Superficial remarks to impress the interviewer

Interview Dos
• If provided a form, fill out neatly

• Do greet the interviewer verbally / panel

• Do make good eye contact with your interviewer(s)

• Remain calm, relaxed, and be yourself

• Do show enthusiasm

• Do make sure that your good points come across to the interviewer in a
factual, sincere manner

• Do stress your achievements


Interview Don’ts
• Do not ever lie. Answer questions truthfully, frankly and to the
point. Be in sync with your resume at all times

• Do not answer questions with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Explain


whenever possible. Give examples

• Avoid negative statements or complaining

• Don’t leave unfinished sentences

• Avoid indecisive phrases like: “I think,” “I guess,” “probably”

• Avoid answering a question if you are not clear


Important Questions asked in Interviews
• Tell us something about yourself? Remember not to mention
any family/personal details in your reply.

• What are your strengths? SWOT Analysis

• What are your weaknesses? SWOT Analysis

• Why should we select you? Your strengths and your vision


statement

• Where do you see yourself in the organization 2 years from


now? Your goals set with the help of the SMART model
