    SUBMISSION TO GOD’S

    AUTHORITY
    JAMES 4:7; TITUS 3:1
    James 4: 7
    So submit to [the authority of] God.
    Resist the devil [stand firm against
    him] and he will flee from you.

    term meaning to arrange
    oneself under the command
    of leader.

    viewpoint rather than to line according to
    one’s old way of life based on a human

    Submit?
    1. Human Institution
    1 Peter 2: 13
    Submit yourselves to [the authority of]
    every human institution for the sake of
    the Lord [to honor His name], whether it
    is to a king as one in a position of power,

    a. Governing Authorities
    Romans 13: 1
    Let every person be subject to the
    governing authorities. For there is no
    authority except from God [granted by
    His permission and sanction], and those
    which exist have been put in place by God.

    Servants, in everything obey those who

    authorities?

    1. Because they love the idea of


    freedom
    2. Because they lived by reasoning
    instead of by the principle of obedience
    3. Because of Pride
    Where there is strife, there is pride, but
    wisdom is found in those who take
    advice. (Proverbs 13:10)

    possible punishment but also as a
    matter of conscience.
    V. What is the reality behind not
    submitting to authority?
    • If you resist delegated authority
    you resist God’s authority

    Consequently, whoever rebels against
    the authority is rebelling against what
    God has instituted, and those who do so
    will bring judgment on themselves..
    VI. Do all authorities whether
    earthly authorities or spiritual
    authorities appointed God?
    •Yes, they are appointed by God

    authorities, for there is no authority
    except that which God has established.

    to authorities?

    • Its when the delegated


    authorities ask to violate God’s
    command.

    Christians to either
    a.Not to do what God has
    command them to do
    b. Do what God has prohibited
    them to do.
    Conclusion
    •As Christians, we ought to live a
    life of total submission to God and
    to his delegated authority. For in
    such way, we proves that we are his
    children because we imitate the Lord
    Jesus Christ as He submitted to the
    Father that He will be an atonement
    sacrifice for the sake of all people.
