OCEAN (KARAGATAN)
This is the widest and largest body of water
in the world. Huge sea vessels can travel
here. There are five oceans in the world:
Pacific Ocean – ocean closest to the
Philippines. This is also the largest
ocean. 179.7 kilometro kuwadrado.
Atlantic Ocean - 106 400 000 kilometro

Indian Ocean – 73 556 000 kilometro
kuwadrado.
Arctic Ocean – 14 056 000 kilometro

SEA (DAGAT)
It is smaller than ocean.
A lot of aquatic resources live in the sea.
Korales (corals), kapis (capiz shell) at
perlas (pearl).

Examples of seas are the Sulu Sea,
Mindanao sea, Celebes at Sibuyan.
STRAIT (KIPOT)
This is a narrow body of water, which
separates two large land forms.
Examples are: San Juanico Strait
which is found between Samar and
Leyte. This is the narrowest strait in the
Philippines.

RIVER (ILOG)
The river is a wide body of water that flows
towards the sea. It has fresh water, so
fresh-water fishes are harvested from
rivers.
Examples of rivers are: Cagayan River
(the longest and
largest river in the
Philippines),
Pasig River (a
river that can be
seen in the city)

Pampanga River (formerly kn o w n as Rio
Grande de Pampanga) -is the second largest
river in the island of Luzon, next to
Cagayan River.

BAY (LOOK)
This serves as a harbor for sea-faring
vessels in the Philippines. Passengers ride
here, and goods can be loaded for transport
to different places. Manila Bay is known
for its beautiful sunsets.

Subic Bay,
Iligan Bay and
Manila Bay.

LAKE (LAWA)
A lake is a body of water surrounded by
land. There are many lakes in the
Philippines. Lake water is fresh, and some
of the fish that you can find in Philippine
lakes are hito (catfish), dalag, tilapia, and
ayungin.
Examples of lakes
are: Taal Lake, Caliraya Lake,
Naujan Lake (Oriental Mindoro)
Laguna Lake (largest lake in the
Philippines)
and Lanao Lake (Mindanao)

SPRING (BUKAL)
This is the smallest body of water. The
water come from beneath the ground, and
can be either hot or cold. Hot springs can
be found in areas near volcanoes or
mountains.
Examples:
Bukal ng Bundok Makiling, Tiwi Hot

Albay, Laguna at Alfonsa Cavite.

STREAM or BROOK (SAPA)
This is a small body of flowing water. It
can be dried up during summer. The
source is a spring. It can be used to
irrigate rice fields.
GULF (GOLPO)
This is part of the ocean, and can be found
at the opening of the sea. This can be
used as a port for sea vessels. You can
also fish here.
Examples: Lingayen Gulf found near
Pangasinan, and
Ragay Gulf found
in Quezon and
Davao Gulf.
WATERFALL (TALON)
Waterfalls fall from a high place. Examples
are:
Maria Cristina Falls (Lanao Del Norte) –
pinagkukunan ng kuryente sa ilang bahagi
ng Mindanao.
Botocan Falls (Laguna)
- it is used as National Power Corporation
to create energy called hydroelectricity.\
Pagsanjan Falls (Laguna)
- famous destination in the Philippines.
Asik asik Falls(found in North Cotabato),
and Hubot Falls (found in Aurora).
