Who am I?
I was an English poet and one of my famous poem is
entitled "JOURNEY OF THE MAGI" this was the my
first popular Christmas poems. I wrote the poem one
Sunday after church when I converted to Christianity in
1927, the same year I wrote this. Told from the
perspective of one of the Magi or ‘wise men’ visiting the
infant Christ, the poem examines the implications that the
advent of Christ had for the other religions of the time.

'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
Thou art more lovely and more temperate: The ship has weather'd every rack,
the prize we sought is won,
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
exulting,
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim
And often in his gold complexion dimmed;
and daring;
And every fair from fair sometime declines, But O heart! heart! heart!
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimmed. O the bleeding drops of red,
But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st Fallen cold and dead.
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade, O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st Rise up- for you the flag is flung- for
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, you the bugle trills'
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee
