    COMPARING THE

    EFFECTIVENESS OF MODULAR
    LEARNING AND TRADITIONAL
    LEARNING IN GRADE-10 STE
    STUDENTS OF ALANGALANG
    NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
    BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:

     The outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines have


    affected over a billion of students around the world.
    Filipino students across all academic levels are among
    those who must remain at home and adhere the
    Philippine Government’s Quarantine Regulations
    (UNESCO). The shift to modified forms of modular
    learning might be seen as a move by the government to
    solidify its commitment to learning despite the
    pandemic, due to the pandemic, students are missing out
    on traditional schooling.
    OBJECTIVES:
     Focused on comparing the effectiveness of modular
    learning and traditional learning, and to determine which
    mode of learning is effective to the students.
    SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
     This study benefits to the following:

     Learners- serve as a basis of knowledge on the effectiveness od modular


    learning and traditional learning on their own perspective.
     Teacher- it will provide insight on how different the effects o modular
    learning and traditional learning to the performance of the students.
     Parents- it is helpful to them to encourage and support their child on their
    academic performance without pressure.
     Future Researcher- this study can be used to guide future researcher in this
    topic
    STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
     Schools were forced to shut down, forcing students to
    attend modular classes instead of regular classroom
    learning.

     Classroom instruction has a reputation for being


    teacher- centered and requiring passive learning from
    students, whereas modular learning is frequently
    student-centered and involves active learning. The
    instructor frequently controls classroom dynamics in
    teacher-centered, or passive learning. As the teacher speaks
    and remarks, the students listen, take notes, and ask
    questions. In student-centered, or active learning, students
    frequently control classroom dynamics.
    SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS:
     This study aims to discuss the effectiveness of Modular
    learning and Traditional learning and how they adjust
    with this new learning system especially to the GRADE-
    10 STE students of ANHS.
    REVIEW RELATED LITERARURE:
     According to Bransford, J., et al. (2007), is a social activity in which
    people interact with the learning environment. Classroom learning
    occurs in a school setting, where a calendar or timetable, as well as
    rules and regulations, govern how teaching and learning should be
    conducted. Learning in the classroom necessitates students'
    participation in the learning environment. For teaching and learning
    to take place, both students and teachers must be physically present
    in the classroom.
     Modular learning is the most popular type of Distance Learning. When
    education institutions were closed, learners, as well as teachers, miss the
    opportunity to socially interact which is essential to learning and
    development.
     Interactions serve a variety of functions in the
    educational transaction (Sims, 1999). These functions
    allow learner control, facilitating program adaptation
    based on learner input, allowing various forms of
    participations and communication, and acting as an aid
    to meaningful learning.
    METHODOLOGY:
     RESEARCH DESIGN:
    Quantitative method would be used in order to obtain more
    comprehensive and appropriate data to answer the various
    questions asked in the study. The quantitative approach is
    shown by the use of questionnaire made by the researcher of
    the study whose data was analyzed by using numbers.
    RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

     Approximately 6,000 pupils attend the Alangalang


    national High School. Only GRADE-10 STE was chosen
    as the subject of the investigation. In a class of 85
    people, all of the participants are my classmates
    SAMPLING METHOD

     This study instrument was broken down into three


    pieces. Part I addresses the number of pupils in
    determining whether form of learning is most successful.
    Part II discusses how challenging modular learning was
    for students. Part III discusses if classroom teaching
    setting aided in improved learning .
     
    DATA ANALYSIS

     Quantitative Data Analysis is concerned with taking


    measurements and gathering numerical data in order to
    generalized it across groups of people or explain in a
    phenomenon.
    RESULT AND DISCUSSION:
      The survey that I obtained is voluntary participation, which means that those
    answered questions voluntary agreed to participate in the data collection. Due to the fact
    that the majority of my classmates are busy doing their assessments, only 24 respondents
    in GRADE-10 STE responded to my survey.

    CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION:
     Based on the summary of findings, the following
    conclusion were derived. Traditional learning is an
    excellent style of learning, according to the various
    consultations and evaluation, because it aids in better
    learning for students and allow real-time face-to-face
    engagement with the contents.
     Modular learning, on the other hand is ineffective for
    those students who find it difficult to complete
    evaluations without the assistance of teachers. Due to the
    large amount of activities, self-studying and a lack of
    time to complete all the modules.
     As the recommendations, the respondents should stay
    organized, stay connected to the instructor, classmates
    and group mates for better learning setting and it
    suggested that each of us recognize the significance of
    education in our general lives.
