Reviewing Syllables

Syllables are the smaller parts that make up a word.

Each syllable in a word contains a vowel sound.

For example, Mon - day

Counting Syllables
To determine the number of syllables in a word you can put your hand
underneath your chin and count the number of times your chin touches your
hand as you speak the word aloud. Another way to figure out how many
syllables are in a word is to clap it out.

Let’s practice!

are open or closed.
