HOW IMPROPER WASTE DISPOSAL
AFFECTS THE ENVIRONMENT
Waste is a natural part of the human world

Wastes should disposed correctly

Being aware of the consequences

But people are dumping their wastes wherever

LAND POLLUTION
Detrimental impacts on animal,
plants and human health

Loss of fertile land for agriculture

Habitat shifting

Increase in wildfires

Increased soil pollutants

WATER POLLUTION
80 percent of the world’s wastewater is
dumped back into the environment

It raises the toxicity of the water

Making freshwater unsafe

Toxic substances change the colour of water

Effect the growth of aquatic organisms

AIR POLLUTION
Air pollutants emitted from waste management facilities

Particulate
Carbon Monoxide Oxides of Nitrogen Sulfur Dioxide Hydrocarbons
Matter

Greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere

Cause massive global climate change

Air pollution caused by wastes include:

• burning of fossil fuels
• exhaust fumes from your vehicles
• harmful fragrance or off-gassing from
plastic production, paints
CLIMATE CHANGE
Long - term changes in climate

Global rise in temperature

Effects of all types of pollution

Damages the ozone layer

Melting ice caps, Rising sea levels

Negatively affecting natural habitats

PLANT DEALTH
Improper waste is a great threat to plant life

Toxic water can kill plants

Plants cannot survive in polluted environment

A polluted environment can kill many exotic plants

Without plants, no other species can survive

ANIMAL & MARINE DEATH
Animals are dying by consuming
hazardous materials
Marine animals are dying from
eating plastic in the sea
Waste disposal directly leads to the
extinction of many species every day

Causing loss of biodiversity

Permanent damage to ecosystems

across the globe
LOSS OF HABITATS
Species can no longer survive in their own
environment due to a very negative change
The changes are so drastic that the species
do not even have time to adjust

They will have no idea how to survive

They are in huge threat of extinction

due to their loss of habitat

Loss of habitat has mostly resulted in

death and inability to reproduce
DISEASE
Unprocessed waste is a huge
breeding ground for major diseases
Waste is horrible for the health
of all living things
World Health Organization (WHO) has
stated that improper disposal of medical
waste can cause the following diseases:
Parasitic Infections Diarrhoea
Lung Infections Tetanus
Skin Infections Whooping cough
Candida HIV and Hepatitis
CONCLUSION
Land Pollution Water Pollution Air Pollution

Climate Change Plant Death

Animal & Marine Death Loss of Habitats Disease

CONCLUSION
Only cure is through growing forests Humans should be mindful
and plant lot of trees everywhere of their waste disposal
