    WHO IS DR. JOSE RIZAL?

    • He was a Filipino nationalist, writer and polymath active at the end of the Spanish
    colonial period of the Philippines. He is considered a national hero of the
    Philippines.

    • Rizal wrote a paper known as "The Retraction" a few hours before he was
    killed, declaring his Catholic faith and retracting all of his works critical of
    the church.
    I declare myself a catholic and in this Religion in which I was born and educated I wish to
    live and die I retract with all my heart whatever in my words, writings, publications and
    conduct has been contrary to my character as son of the Catholic Church. I believe and I
    confess whatever she teaches and I submit to whatever she demands. I abominate Masonry, as
    the enemy which is of the Church, and as a Society prohibited by the Church. The Diocesan
    Prelate may, as the Superior Ecclesiastical Authority, make public this spontaneous
    manifestation of mine in order to repair the scandal which my acts may have caused and so
    that God and people may pardon me.

    PROOF THAT RIZAL RETRACTED?

    signed a retraction document denouncing his writings and formally
    accepting the Catholic faith just before his execution.

    CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCES THAT RIZAL DID
    NOT RETRACT
    • 1. The handwriting on the retraction is questionable because it is very consistent and
    seems like only one person did the letter and the signature.
    • 2. The unrevealed personnel confessed to Antonio Abad on August 13, 1901. He was paid
    to create a fake document in the retraction of Rizal by the friars.
    • 3. The publication date of Rizal was questionable because it appeared in 1935, yet he was
    executed in 1896. His retraction letter has never been seen by his family, so what? Why it
    took 39 years?
    • 4. Rizal’s retraction letter did not save him from execution even though he renounced his
    statement.
    CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCES THAT RIZAL DID
    NOT RETRACT
    • 5. No marriage certificate with Josephine Bracken, and no evidence provided that they
    married in the Catholic church.
    • 6. Rizal’s behavior and letters during his last 24 hours with his family and to his close
    friends did not point to a conversation that he retracted.
    • 7. The said retraction letter was out of the character of Rizal, the statement was irrelevant
    to him
