ABOUT ETAB SOFTWARE :
1. The software ETABS, an abbreviation for "Extended Three-dimensional Analysis of
Building Systems", is a fully integrated 3D tool that enables structural analysis and
design in the fields of civil engineering and architecture.
2. The ETABS is a well-known engineering software that helps in modeling tools and
templates, analyzes the methods. Provide solutions and are based on code-based load
prescription. It helps with understanding the static and dynamic analysis of shear wall
building and multi-story structures.
3. ETABS is a structural analysis and design software developed by csiamerica. It is a
very powerful software that can design almost any kind of civil engineering structure.
KEY POINTS :
 COLUMNS
 BEAMS
 LOADS
DEAD LOAD
LIVE LOAD
SEISMIC LOAD
WIND LOAD
 BRACING
 SHEAR WALL
 DAMPERS
 RESPONSE SPECTRUM ANALYSIS
 TIME HISTROY CASES
SEISMIC ANAIYSIS AND WIND LOAD ANALYSIS OF G+5 BUILDING
 SEISMIC LOAD
Seismic loading is one of the basic concepts of earthquake engineering which means application of a
seismic oscillation to a structure. It happens at contact surfaces of a structure either with the ground or with
adjacent structures.

 WIND LOAD
Wind load refers to the pressure caused by the wind that is delivered to a structure. This weight is dispersed
over the structure's total area. Larger structures are more affected by the wind than small ones because the
intensity of this load increases as building altitude increases.

 STEPS IN ETAPS
 Selection of units
 Define material properties (grade of concrete and grade of steel )
 Define frame sections and slab sections (dimensions )
DIMENSIONS AER TO BE CONSIDERED :
• Height =18.3mm
• Beam = 460X230mm
• Column = 460X460mm
• Slab thickness = 150mm

LOADS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED:

• Dead load =1 kn/m
• Wall load = 24.3 kn/m
• Floor load = 2 kn/m
• Live load =3.5 kn/m
• Seismic load = 0.24
• Wind load = 39
 And analyse the design
RESPONSE SPECTRUM ANALYSIS AND TIME HISTROGRAM ANALYSIS :
A Response Spectrum Analysis (RSA) is a linear (strains directly related to stresses) dynamic procedure
that uses a structure's natural vibrations properties in order to obtain the maximum force generated in a
motion seismic event.
TIME HISTOGRAM ANALYSIS :
Time histograms place samples that fall within a defined voltage range and time window
into bins based on their time relative to a trigger point. The time resolution of time
histograms depends directly on the precision with which samples can be positioned in time
relative to the trigger.
FLOATING COLUMN BUILDING
 The floating column is also known as a hanging column, they rest vertically on
the beam and prevent the transfer of load directly to the foundation thus
leaving a lot of room on the base that can be utilized as parking in residential
buildings.
 The floating column is a vertical member which rest on a beam and doesn't
transfer the load directly to the foundation. The floating column acts as a point
load on the beam and this beam transfers the load to the column below it.
ANALYSIS OF THE BUILDING WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRACINGS
Types of Bracing Systems
•1- Horizontal Bracing. Bracing in the horizontal plane is generally used to combat
lateral stresses like earthquakes and wind. ...
•2- Vertical Bracing. ...
•3- Diagonal Bracing. ...
•1- KBracing. ...
•2- XBracing. ...
•3- Shear Walls. ...
•4- Core Walls. ...
•5- Moment Walls
IRREGULAR BUILDING DESIGN
 We have considered 3 types of stiffness irregular structures, i.e. Ground Storey, height is more than that of
height of each floor of the structure, making it a weak storey with stiffness irregularity at the bottom
(Ground), then we have Stiffness irregularity in the middle of the model structure, by providing height .
 They are: (a) Stiffness irregularity (soft story), (b) Mass irregularity, (c) Vertical geometric irregularity (set-
back), and (d) In-plane discontinuity in lateral-force-resisting vertical elements. Apart from these four, here
is also another type of irregularity which is the discontinuity in capacity (weak story)
SINGLE COLUMN BUILDING
They save ground space as requires less area for providing foundation and provides more space for
parking. They are also unique. Single column structure can be made either by using RCC or Steel. RCC

structures are more common now days in India.

CONCLUSION :
 The Etabs software is working on the Limit state method and the Etabs software give the value

and diagram of shear force which is acting on the structure as well as gives the value and
diagram of Bending moment.it gives economical results as well.
