1. Risk analysis in precast prefabricated structures involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks
associated with the design, manufacturing, transportation, handling the structure, Quality control and erection of
precast components. It aims to minimize the likelihood of accidents, failures, delays, and cost overruns by proactively
addressing potential risks.
2. It aims that to reduce the Financial losses, avoid the accidents, Increase the life spam of structure.
Risk Analysis may be described as “a systematic way of looking at areas of risk and consciously determining how each
should be treated. It is a Analysis tool that aims at identifying sources of risk and uncertainty, determining their impact,
and developing appropriate management responses”.
Uncertain risks in construction projects cannot be perished, but it can be minimized through systematic risk analysis
(identifying, analyzing and giving response to the project risk). The Analysis of risk is intended to determine, control
and minimize the type of risk, and finally to find out the solution and the responsible party of risk.
HISTORY OF RISK ANALYSIS OF PRECAST PREFABRICATED STRUCTURE.
Precast concrete construction techniques have been used for centuries, but it was during the mid-20th century that the
use of precast prefabricated structures gained momentum. In the early stages, risk analysis was not as formalized or
structured as it is today.
The systematic analysis of risks associated with precast prefabricated structures gained attention in the late 20th
century.
Risk analysis in precast prefabricated structures focuses on various aspects, including structural integrity and design
considerations. Engineers analyze factors like material quality, load-bearing capacity, seismic performance, and
connections between precast elements to ensure the overall stability and safety of the structure.
Risk analysis expanded beyond structural considerations to encompass quality control and production processes.
Assessing the risks associated with manufacturing, transportation, and installation of precast elements became crucial
to avoid defects, premature failures, or safety hazards.
Literature Review
1. P. Karthigai Priya (2019) - Author has studied the current situation of construction in India. Most of
the construction activities in India take place by conventional cast in situ method of construction. But still
there is a huge demand for housing in India. So the construction activity has to take place in a much faster
way. This cannot be achieved by conventional method of construction. It can be done possible with precast
concrete of construction. Moreover, there are more advantages of precast concrete when compared with
conventional one. So various are studied and a review of those all has been given in this paper. Also, the
advantages and disadvantages of precast construction are also discussed here.
2. Goran Cirovic (2019) - The author studied the risks in construction industry. Construction industry
is a highly risky process mostly because of its long-life duration and unique product as a result of
construction, and also many different professions are involved in one project. Generally, risks in construction
industry should be controlled and reduced during design, procurement and construction phase, and the most
important activities are defining risk management plan from the very beginning and to assign risks to
different project members and to manage their execution. In this paper risks on a project in initial phase will
be presented, cost and duration risks and complete contingency for the previously defined budget will be
described. Statistical data for one project in design phase will be analyzed and general comments and
recommendations will be proposed.
3. Dziadoaz and Rejment (2015) - studied the three different methods of the risk analysis as well as
stress their disadvantages, advantages and primary areas of application. These methods differ in their
methodology from each other. Analyse was done using statistical method, which determines the type of used
data hence it affects the quality of the results. The result of the paper was to use the method for identification
and preliminary assessment of risk by the matrix of risk and develop risk assessment model in construction
projects it should be emphasized on the compilation available.
4. Naser and Kodur (2015) discussed the important factor that was used to quantify fire risk in
present and new bridges and provide guidelines for designers to tackle the fire hazard in bridges. The degree
of vulnerability of structural and sub structural component to fire mainly depend on fire resistance of various
structural members of bridge.
5. Neeraj and Balasubramaniyan (2015) studied the key factors of risk in construction industry
through questionnaires. Thirty-eight factors influenced risks in construction were analysed through pilot
study, which include experts of academicians, government sectors and construction industry were
interviewed, and interviewed experts obtained twenty-two evaluation criteria as the key factor. This approach
provides a more effective, accurate and organised decision support tool .
AIM OF THE PROJECT
The major objective of present work is too important in Precast-Prefabricated structure. To improve safety
performance in the construction industry which can be done by achieving the following sub-objective
First we are going to casting site of precast-prefabricated structure during this process of precast and prefabricated
structures the onsite which type of challenges engineers, workers face. And we are going to do a deep observation of
erection and fabrication of this project.
After the deep observation of precast prefabricated structure we are going to identify out various types of risks.
Through questionnaires survey, for this survey we are going to prepare a questionnaires through google form and
distribute to Project Managers, planning Engineers, Architect, site Engineers and working labor and we are going to
collect maximum 100 responses.
And after the collection of data we are going to put this data into excel sheet and after that downloading the data from
excel sheet we can analyze the “risk” with help of “Relative Index Method” and find out most common risk of Precast-
prefabricated structure construction project they are facing.
The dominant risk were allotted to the contractor, owner and shared stake holders and risk matrix was made.
METHODOLOGY
Literature review
Risk identification
Questionnaire survey
Questionnaire Survey :-
The different constriction professionals such as Engineers, Architectures, Expert on that field are asked
to describe the five best-scale questions for grade.
1. Very Low
2. Low
3. Medium
4. High
5. Very high
Conclusion
The key findings and conclusions of a risk analysis in the Precast Prefabricated Bridge construction project may
include:
1. Identification of the main risks: The study should identify the main risks associated with high-rise construction
projects, including falls from height, structural failures, and hazards associated with heavy equipment and materials.
2. Assessment of risk analysis strategies: The effectiveness of current risk analysis strategies should be evaluated to
determine whether they are adequate for analysis the identified risks.
3. Areas for improvement: Based on the assessment of current risk analysis strategies, the study may identify areas for
improvement in risk analysis. This may include better stakeholder engagement, use of new technology, and integration
of risk analysis with project management, and training and education.
4. Recommendations for future research: Based on the study's findings, recommendations for future research may
include further investigation into the effectiveness of specific risk analysis strategies or the development of new risk
analysis approaches.
