History of JW MARRIOTT

The 24-story luxury property,


opened in Kolkata, is the 8th JW
Marriott Hotel in the country.

Mani Group chairman Sanjay


Jhunjhunwala said the property
was being developed at a cost of
around Rs 1,300 crore and would
have 300 keys and other facilities.
He also added We will hand over
the property to J W Marriott by
June 2015. Then it will take about
three months time for the hotel to
start operations.
The hotel finally started its
operations from 25th October 2016

Front Office :
Similar to another properties, the Front office is also
situated on the Ground floor along with GRA ( Guest
Relation Attendants) desk and Concierge's desk. The
front lobby is situated centre of the Hotel and is
surrounded by two food & Beverage Outlet, One is JW
kitchen and another is JW Lounge.

Under the JW Marriott Front office Kolkata, the A.Y.S (at


Your Service) is also operational for 24 hrs, and the
a.y.s is is also responsible for taking Calls, punching
orders for in-room dining, taking request of guests and
then informing it to the particular department for
completion.

The GRA or the Guest Relation desk is responsible for


the placing of cakes in the room for any special
occasions of the guest such as birthday’s or
anniversary’s and also decorating the rooms for the
same.
Duties I’ve performed in Front Office

I. Shifting luggage's to/from the bell desk and guest room.


II. Tallying the reg cards, finding the cheques of B.T.C.
III. Making excel report, updating mobile number of reserved guest in the system.
IV. Supplying news papers, giving floor access to some guest.
V. Punching & filing of Reg cards, finding cheques from the pigeon hole and then
tallying it with B.T.C bills, supplying some asked items to guest.
VI. Taking calls on the a.y.s on the absence of the a.y.s receptionist

Banquet or Ballroom (Sangam) :


Grand Ballroom is an indoor banquet
hall with a seating capacity of 1000
and 1500 floating guests.
By putting partition walls, we can
divide the banquet hall into 4 and
they are separately named as Ganga,
Yamuna, Saraswati and Indus. The
banquet can be booked as a whole or
can can be booked separately as per
requirement and convinience of the
guests.
Indus is indoor banquet hall with a
seating capacity of 300 and 500
guests and Saraswati is indoor
banquet hall with a seating capacity
of 300 and 500 guests.

The Gallery and the
Boardroom :

On the first floor, the Gallery is


located beside the Vintage Asia
and the Gallery is also a part of
the banquet.

The Gallery is combined of a


living room and 5 studios and a
bathroom for melting and small
corporate parties. Studio 1 have
a max capacity of 80, studio 2 of
30,studio 3 of 30, studio 4 & 5
of 100 and bedroom of 16.
Duties I’ve performed in Banquet
I. Wiping of crockeries, cutleries and glasses.
II. Standing at counters.
III. Performing clearance.
IV. Passing around starters.
V. Clearing back area.
VI. Setting up buffet.
VII.Picking up food.
VIII.Performing hall setup.
IX. In house water bottles inventory.
X. Setting up starter platter & pickup of starter for pass around.
XI. Area closer during night shifts.

Housekeeping Department :
Housekeeping department in hotel ensures the
cleanliness, maintenance, and aesthetic appeal
of all rooms and public areas. The housekeeping
department not only turnarounds (prepares and
clean guestrooms) on a timely manner it also
cleans and maintains everything in the hotel so
that the property is as fresh and attractive
similar to the day when it opened the doors for
the business. The effort that the housekeeping
makes in giving a guest a desirable room has a
direct bearing on the guest’s experience in a
hotel. There are more employees working in the
housekeeping department when compared to
any other hotel departments.
Duties I’ve performed in Housekeeping

I. Preparing guest rooms.


II. Supply amenities on request.
III. Performing CMR on request.
IV. Vacuuming of lift landing area & corridor.
V. Setting up pantry and store.
VI. Dropping soiled linens from pantry of every floor during night shifts .
VII.Picking up in house water bottles from basement 3.
VIII.Vacuuming under bed.
IX. Looking after guest request.
Experience during my IT :

The experience with JW Marriott kolkata was really amazing , being an intern for
22 weeks i could learn and also handle the department where I trained.
