 Robert Hooke {1665} ~ Discovered the dead cells of the
cork of bark of a tree.
 Anton Von Leeuwenhoek {1674} ~ Discovered the living
cells like bacteria, human sperm, protozoans, etc.
 Robert Brown {1831} ~ Discovered the nucleus in the root
cells of the orchid plant.
 Purkinje {1839} ~ Termed protoplam for jelly like semi fluid
material of the cell.
 M.J. Schleidin {1839} and Schwann {1839} ~ Proposed the
Cell Theory which states that ceel is the functional unit of
life for all living organisms.
