This document explains the concept of light and shadows for Grade 2 students. It describes light as a form of energy from natural and artificial sources, how it travels in straight lines, and how shadows are formed when light is blocked by an object. An experiment is suggested to observe how shadows change with the angle of light.

Light and Shadows
For Grade 2 Students
What is Light? • Light is a form of energy that allows us to see the world around us. It comes from sources like the sun, light bulbs, and candles. Sources of Light • There are natural sources of light like the sun and stars, and artificial sources like light bulbs and flashlights. How Light Travels • Light travels in straight lines. It can pass through some materials, be reflected off surfaces, or be absorbed by objects. What are Shadows? • Shadows are formed when an object blocks light. The area behind the object where light cannot reach is called a shadow. Experiment with Shadows • Try this at home: Shine a flashlight on different objects and observe the shadows they create. Notice how the size and shape of the shadow change with the angle of the light.
