failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted

My heart breaks for these kids. I have physical pain in my chest. Some of these kids weren’t even born when Sandy Hook happened. Nothing has changed. This only happens in the US. I’m tired of innocent people dying in droves at the whim of 18 year olds who found themselves in the wrong corner of the internet. Jesus.

jason sudeikis & olivia wilde process server incident

okay y’all I’m a lawyer who’s dealt with this a lot

there is no way jason actually knew that the process server was going to serve her in such a public fashion. believe him when he says he didn’t know.

generally, the lawyer has a process service company the firm works with, and it’s generally up to the process server to figure out how to serve the person. if they’re having trouble they sometimes ask the lawyer how to handle, but it never goes to the client usually.

in this case, because olivia wilde is a fucking celebrity, it likely would have been impossible for the process server to get close to her enough to serve her. on stage was likely the only way they could pull it off.

so stop calling jason petty! he didn’t know and there likely wasn’t another good way for the process server to serve her.

This has been the worst month of my 6+ year Biglaw career. Holy hell. So much for my new year’s resolution to set some fuckin boundaries at work.

I’m so sorry! Firm life sucks and boundaries are difficult as shit. Take care of yourself!!

Is it possible to get a job out of law school with bad grades? I’m a 3L now whose entire law school experience was affected by the pandemic. 1L fall semester was bad and I didn’t get the chance to make it up because of mandatory P/F during 1L spring because of the pandemic.

I managed to do pretty okay during 2L and in the meantime padded my resume with clinics, journal, and externships. My 2L job doesn’t hire new grads, but I continued working with them this fall for more experience and networking opportunities, and managed to make some good connections.

However, my 3L fall grades just came out and they’re pretty bad because I caught COVID during finals. It seems that everywhere I’m applying asks for transcripts, so is there any way that I can put a positive spin on them when I’m applying? Starting to lose hope of finding a job post-grad.

I’m really sorry to hear this, anon. And yes, absolutely. Of course it is. People graduate with bad grades all the time. Definitely emphasize your other experiences and try to explain as you did Re grades whenever you get the chance to do so.

It’s going to be hard, especially if you’re not from a top law school. But don’t lose faith and focus on passing the bar exam!

idk which bitch needs to hear this but in 2022 please put yourself first for once. spend money on yourself, on therapy, on things that bring you joy. treat yourself like you would treat a family member or friend. if you think something is too expensive to spend on yourself, consider if you’d hesitate to buy it for anyone else. give yourself the time that you keep giving to others. be less available. make yourself a priority.
