A drawing of a large black dog on a white background, surrounded by colourful stars

I'm really the last person who should be talking about this, and I know this is merely symbolic of a wider issue, obviously, but holy shit it's so hard to find aesthetic moodboard pictures for my black OCs/blorbos. Like, you can search "Black Grunge" and it's a bunch of black and white pictures of the palest people you've ever seen, or just people in black clothes, but if you dare to put "Afro" or "African" in the search terms you just get a bunch of stock photos of black people.

I don't really have a proposed solution or anything, as mentioned I'm not an expert on race theory or anything (much as I try) and I genuinely just want to find aesthetic pics of black people doing things out in places that aren't a green screen or generic ikea kitchen set.

Bonus points if you can find grungy pics of black hands holding cigarettes or medical supplies or whatever for my edgy nonsense

i have never met an unpsychotic person who knows what it actually means to “not encourage the delusion” …not a single one

what “don’t encourage the delusion” means:

  • don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you
  • assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times
  • encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others
  • start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms
  • do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

  • insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real

I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.

i don’t think it’s trivializing at all, nor a weird comparison—as a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.

This is our life now, and how is your life now?

It's the story of a man who had dreams just like you, but war stole them.👇👇

My name is Abdullah, I am 20 years old. I was a university student. I had dreams for a bright future, but I did not know that war would come and make me ask for money in this difficult way. But this is life.

I created the campaign for two purposes:

1-Complete my education

I want to complete my education but this is difficult now because of the high fees so I hope you can help me with a little money

This link is to help complete my education.👇👇🥹

2-Escape from war and travel

After this war, everything will be destroyed, houses, schools, universities, streets, roads and infrastructure, so life will become difficult.

to help escape the war👇👇

Now can you donate a cup of coffee in the morning?

On 12 March 1990, dozens of disabled people descended on the US Capitol and carried out a protest which became known as the Capitol Crawl. Participants were protesting against the stalling of a proposed law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which would prohibit discrimination against disabled people. Around 1000 other protesters watched and cheered while dozens of members of ADAPT, a group campaigning for public transit access for disabled people, abandoned their wheelchairs and mobility aids and began crawling up the steps of the building housing Congress. It was a powerful illustration of the difficulties faced by many disabled people faced with a hostile environment which had been constructed without their needs in mind. Michael Winter, one of the participants later reflected: “Some people may have thought it was undignified for people in wheelchairs to crawl in that manner, but I felt that it was necessary to show the country what kinds of things people with disabilities have to face on a day-to-day basis. We had to be willing to fight for what we believed in.” In the wake of the protest, Congress passed the bill and it was signed into law in July 1990. https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.1819457841572691/2229212140597257/?type=3

35 Years ago Today (12 March, 2025)

Today, the BBC World Service aired an interview with one of the ADAPT activists who participated in the Capital Crawl. (Unfortunately, and supremely ironically, there is no transcript at the site where this interview streams, but if you can, and want to, you can listen to the interview here):

Mohammed is in a crisis situation, on which you can find more information under our “#mohammed al habil” tag.

Mohammed has been unable to attend his physical therapy due to lack of funds. The condition of his leg has deteriorated as a result.

He now requires an urgent operation in order to save the function in his leg. Mohammed is only 18, and he is terrified of spending the rest of his life with only 1 usable leg.

The operation costs $4,000. Currently, Mohammed's campaign is at just over €17,000. This represents the total funds raised over time, not the funds currently avallable.

New temporary goal: €21,000 EUR

Need to raise: €3,712 EUR (about $3,828 USD)

Please help Mohammed save his leg!

NOTE: I am unable to effectively fundraise for Mohammed. We are urgently hoping for bloggers who will be able to devote time and attention to promoting his campaign. Please consider making a post for Mohammed to promote his campaign so he can save his leg!

🚨🚨Major update!!🚨🚨

As explained here, Mohammed underwent the first stage of the surgery he needs to return function to his leg. This has left him with serious medical debt that he must pay off urgently.

He remains stranded in southern Gaza, unable to walk due to his injury. He is all alone, and has no way to support himself. He desperately needs funds for food, his ongoing care regiment, his debt, and a future medical evacuation.

We have set a new temporary goal to raise €500 EUR (about $525 USD)

New temporary goal: €20,804 EUR

Need to raise: €500 EUR (about $525 USD)

Temporary goal met! Thank you all!

Unfortunately Mohammed remains in dire need. The IOF’s ongoing attacks and their debilitating blockade mean that food and medical supplies remain scarce and very, very expensive.

Mohammed remains in southern Gaza, alone. He has no way to support himself and no one to support him. He desperately needs your support to survive!

Our new temporary goal is €22,000 EUR. Let’s meet it asap so Mohammed can continue to survive alone and disabled in southern Gaza.

Current: €21,004 EUR

New temporary goal: €22,000 EUR

Need to raise: €996 EUR (about $1,083 USD)

In my escapades trying to use my laptop's speach-to-text feature to write Star Trek TNG fanfic, here are the most common mistakes it makes with character names:

Picard - Bicard (not sure why it does this, as far as I know Bicard isn't a word)

Riker - Ryker (not too bad, I'd probably make this error too if I didn't watch the show)

Geordi - Jordy or Geordy (again, easy mistake to make)

Deanna - Diana (obviously)

Worf - Wharf (this on just straight up makes sense for a computer to interpret)

Data- Day da (I have a west-coast canadian accent for context)

Beverly - nothing, it always gets her name right

Wesley - Leslie (no matter how hard I annunciate it comes out as Lesie on screen)

It breaks my heart to see that the world is such that there is no one to hold the Zionist state and the US empire accountable. The Zionists keep on crying about October 7th and the hostages, and every Western institution keeps on coddling them. There has been no genuine acknowledgement of the fact that the British government implanted an illegal settler colony in Palestine and that settler colony forced the native people out of their homes in 1948. There has been no genuine acknowledgent of the horrors of the Nakba, no acknowledgement of ethnic cleansing, no acknowledgement of the destruction of the land in trying to hide the genocide of 1948 through greenwashing, there has been no acknowledgement of the fact that Gaza has been an open air prison, and that Hamas has every right to push back against the oppression of the Zionist state. Right now another genocide is being carried out in front of our eyes, with enthusiastic encouragement from the Western world, the most complicit being the USA. It was always about re-occupation of Gaza and today the Zionist state violated the ceasefire. I am scared for my friends. I am terrified and I do not know how to help except to keep the fundraisers circulating.

And please keep requesting a refund from both of his gofundme campaigns, that were shut down unfairly by the fundraising site. I do not care how long you have to go back and forth with gofundme on this, but Siraj lost 32k because of the site's callousness and even recovering half of that money would mean a lot. So if you have donated in November, December of 2024 and in January of this year, please request a refund because Gofundme allows requests upto a year. They should by their own policy still have the money with them. Please help by clicking on the links above...

Brazil just had the biggest false flag "communist" terror attack since the military dictatorship lmao

Someone planted two bombs in a subway station here in São Paulo yesterday, alongside the obviously fake communist flyers.

Highlights:

  • This specific hammer and sickle logo isn't used by any communist org in Brazil
  • The dots in between the letters, which political parties in Brazil in the 21st century do not use
  • Claiming it is flyer from the PCB (Partido Comunista Brasileiro) but using the name Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCdoB)
  • "viva o maoismo" when neither the PCB or PCdoB are maoists (both are nominally Marxist-Leninist orgs)
  • Actually none of those slogans are even used here

a whole bunch of gazan mutual aid projects and nonprofits. if the decision of which individual fundraiser to give to feels too daunting, or if you just want to help as many people as possible in one go, these are great initiatives to support.

  • care for gaza - focuses on providing food and essential supplies. donate here or here.
  • connecting humanity - securing internet access via donations of virtual sim cards (esims). if you can't afford a whole plan yourself, crips for esims is a communal pool that will use your donation to purchase and maintain esims
  • gaza soup kitchen - provides food, medical care, and classes for children. also has a gofundme
  • glia gaza medical support initiative - provides medical care through field clinics and tents at hospitals. donations can also be sent through their website.
  • ele elna elak - provides clean water, food, clothing, and shelter. they also have a gofundme
  • life for gaza - raising money for the gaza municipality to repair water and waste management infrastructure
  • taawon - partners with local civil organizations to provide food, water, medical care, shelter, and basic supplies
  • the sameer project - running various initiatives providing tents, medical care, and necessities. they have their own encampment project focused on sheltering families with children, sick and disabled members, or members in need of perinatal care
  • islamic relief worldwide's gaza emergency appeal - provides food, water, hygiene kits, medical supplies, and psychological support
  • baitulmaal - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, shelter, and medical supplies
  • gaza mutual aid fund - distributes food, hygiene products, water, and other essential supplies, including financial support. run by @/el-shab-hussein's amazing friend Mona. updates can be found on her instagram.
  • hygiene kits for gaza - provides hygiene supplies including menstrual products, wipes, and toothbrushes/toothpaste
  • anera - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, hygiene supplies, medicine, blankets and mattresses, and psychological care
  • palestine children's relief fund - provides supplies and support with a focus on children. also has an initiative for lebanon
  • dahnoun mutual aid - provides water, food, tents, baby supplies, financial support, and other necessities. updates can be found through their instagram

certainly this is not an exhaustive list, so please feel free to add on other projects or organizations that i didn't include. and as always, please take the time to donate if you can and share. it truly makes all the difference.

I have not been able to donate on Gofundme for a long time now. Any time I try, the payment page gets stuck loading and just won't process. If anyone else is having this strangely ill-timed issue these would be some great alternatives to making a difference in some way.

Everytime I refresh my feed, the number of Palestinians massacred by Israel today rises.

419 is the most recent number of Palestinians killed in an Israeli large-scale sneak attack that started at 2 in the morning today (March 18). That's over 400 people massacred while they slept. That's more than 400 people killed in less than 24 hours.
