I'm mostly here to reblog everything I love: SCA, writing, fiber arts, and various fandoms. I also do some D&D writing with redwingedwhump and whumphs, so feel free to ask me things!

This gauzy ruff, embellished with pearls and gold-embroidered crosses, was first worn by Alexandra Dowling as Queen Anne in the seventh episode of the 2014 first season of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔, entitled 𝑨 𝑹𝒆𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏.   The short-lived and bafflingly costumed Spanish series 𝑹𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔, known in the United States as 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒔: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚𝒓, reused this piece, unfurling the heavily pleated material to give us a better view of the embroidery. It, too, was worn in the seventh episode, entitled 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.   Find more photos at Bit.ly/TudEliz240

if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isn’t

someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter

most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely don’t and didn’t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you don’t

homeless people actually can’t be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right

This post is the distilled essence of everything I believe in.

It’s been a while since I randomly showed you my sorceress character from a few years ago (since we had two of this figure, I updated her to her later-in-the-campaign look)

I’ve been listening to the people in the apartment below me have arguments for two years now and I still can’t figure out what language they’re speaking. The best I can narrow it down is like if Portuguese and Hebrew had a baby. Is that a common pidgin combination

I just listened to a clip of this and jesus christ you fucking got it. there are like 3500 people in the whole united states who speak this and two of them are in a very fraught marriage four feet below me

I wrote a proper actual post on Facebook but possibly I should also tell my tumblr blog. I have a red belt now!!!

Have a dumbass selfie which I'm not putting on Facebook!

(This is also an invitation to hit me harder. I have only had two bruises since getting it, come on, people.)

(Also makes @sca-nerd officially my auntie.)

I am approximately infinitely happy with this. People spent all of Saturday being like "oh good choice, your knight is great" and I got to be like "I KNOW. I'M DELIGHTED" and now I grin like a madman whenever anyone calls me a squire.

Shut up, I love this. Everyone look at my newest Squire Nibling. BEHOLD. THEY MAY MAKE THAT BLACK AND GOLD LOOK GOOD.

Black and gold is a great colour scheme but OMG I am suddenly overheating twice as fast as I was in argent and azure. Save me, the sun wants to kill me.

I am being so strong and resisting the temptation to wear this new colour scheme everywhere. I will go to the grocery store in jeans and leave my red belt at home because I'm so very normal.

Congratulations on your squiring!

Thank you!! I am so so happy!!

I love not using the recommended yarn, making a gauge swatch, or choosing the recommended size for the pattern based on my measurements! This surely will work out fine
