no you have to contribute to your fandom if you don't want it to die. most fandoms die because people say 'it's so sad watching the fandom die when the hype dies' without doing anything about it. I'm not saying you have to push out 100k word slow-burn fic, I'm not saying you have to make fan art or gif sets or edits or anything. I'm just saying we as a community should contribute to our fandom if we don't want it to die, and by contributing, I'm talking about giving kudos, commenting on your favorite fics, reblogging your favorite art and just talking about your favorite characters. that's enough to keep a fandom alive. that's the most effective way to keep a fandom alive in my humble opinion.

fandoms die because people stop talking about it, fandoms die because people stop engaging with fan content once the hype is gone. what I'm saying is, mainstream media's hype may be gone, but our fandom can stay alive and thriving if us as a community don't let it die.

The most important aspect of Shen Qingqiu as a Monster AUs is that he must be as interested in humans as he is in monsters in cannon.

As soon as Naga Shen Qingqiu gets his coils around Human Liu Qingge he's flipping that man every what way, looking at his tummy and grabbing his legs and making him bend and unbend over and over again, utterly fascinated by his knee joints. What a soft underbelly! What a curious jaw shape! What a quant little creature!

Meanwhile Liu Qingge was expecting to be eaten the moment he got Snatched and now he's stuck in terrified suspense while the Naga inspects him.

You know, I used to be pretty self conscious when I'd find a new artist/blog and scroll through their stuff, liking as I went. Felt like I was bothering them, leaving so many notes behind.

Having had someone do this to my blog, I'm less self conscious about it because it is a DELIGHT to look in my Activity and see a long list of the same person's name! Very flattering, and puts a smile on my face!

So... if you feel bad about scrolling through someone's blog and leaving a ton of likes, don't! It's very nice :)

How am I only just learning this!?

Alright, it's almost time to pick things back up! Chapter 5 of Eye of the Beholder will be going live on Sunday, April 6th! Until then, here's a little preview for everyone ;)

"The first days of spring always felt like something of a rebirth to Luo Binghe.

For as long as he could remember, winter had been a season he looked upon with vast, all-consuming dread. The cold would set deep into his bones, its long claws sinking into his muscles and marrow until he was trembling in its grip. His stomach would grow deep and hollow, howling its hunger from within the depths of his shaking body despite his best attempts to ignore it.

It had always felt like a part of him died during those dark, cold days. And when spring finally arrived, sweeping across the landscape and scaring away the chill, that small part of himself would slowly come alive once more.

Shizun’s change had felt a lot like the coming of spring."

I look forward to sharing the rest of with you all!

... Sooooo I rewatched Murder Drones recently... I might go on a little rant about Best Boy... Post some art... get the brain worms out yanno...

Just thought I'd warn all the folks who are here for the Danmei Content lol! (Don't worry I'm not shifting fandoms! Still got HuaLian snippets to put out and more additions to make to Dr. Shen's Log)

If I was desperate for kudos I would not be out here posting villain ships, minor character rarepairs, and other deeply unpopular ships.

I know how to write popular fic. I know how to farm kudos. That's not what I'm here for.

"Readers need to remember that authors don't know a reader liked their fic unless the reader tells them by leaving a kudos or a comment" does not mean "waahhh waahhh I need attention!"

It means "even if writers write purely for themselves, if you don't bother to interact with writers when you do enjoy their work, they might stop posting and just keep their work to themselves."

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who aren't reading the fanfiction in question.

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who did not enjoy the fanfiction in question.

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is aimed at people who read a fanfiction, enjoyed it, and then didn't bother to even do the bare minimum to share their excitement about it with the work's creator, even though that excitement is literally the only thing they get in return for posting their work.

Fanfiction authors write because they enjoy writing. They post because they want to form a connection with the people who enjoyed their work.

This is not an attempt to scold anyone, I literally don't care if I get kudos or not. It's simply an attempt to remind people that fanfiction is a community, and fan authors can't read your mind.

Another Shen Qingqiu is a Naga post! (continuation of this :p)

Now, Liu Qingge assumed he would die within moments of being caught by the Naga; his every limb is wrapped in those coils and squeezed into place within moments, holding him with the same ease a human might pick up a wriggling kitten. He's immobilized, helpless, and certainly doomed.

This does not happen; instead the Naga peers at him for a moment before hissing softly to himself and... turning him over. Flipping him upside down, ass up within his coils and turning him this way and that; at some point the Naga's coils shift up his body enough to let Liu Qingge's legs dangle free. His legs are then grabbed and prodded at, gripped with surprising gentleness in massive clawed hands and bent at the knees or pulled slightly to the side, huge fingers squeezing curiously at the well-trained muscles.

(Shen Qingqiu, for his part, wasn't sure what to do with the human once he caught it; his instincts kicked in once the human ran and well... he couldn't help himself! And now that he has a chance to get a good, close up look at a human, he might as well take it. Their legs are fascinating and he'll let the human go as soon as he's had a good long look!)

Liu Qingge ends up stumbling out of those woods pants-less, mortified and questioning everything about himself.

Content warning: Omegaverse. Because I've had this idea swimming in my head for a while and I think it's time I free it from the prison of Discord convos onto the masses!

So an idea for a fic I've had (or like... series of one-shots? IDK I'm still considering the overall outline for it)...

Wen Ning, who was an Omega when he was alive and genuinely happy and excited about it. Wen Ning, who looked forward to finding a match, a mate, and becoming a part of a household and rearing a family of his own. Wen Ning who was excited to someday become a Furen, and a mother.

And then the Sunshot Campaign happened and suddenly the Wens needed doctors a lot more than they needed mothers, so plans for a betrothal were shunted to the side. And then the Sunshot Campaign ended.

And then Wen Ning was dead.

His scent had turned sour with the decay of death. He lost his ability to purr, as the organs associated with the action were damaged when he was repeatedly kicked in the chest before he died. Now it's an ugly, grating sound. And he's most certainly lost the ability to bear pups, his body turned cold and barren in death.

One day, post cannon, he takes the juniors out on a Night Hunt; as he's started doing fairly frequently. At first it was just Lan Sizhui, but at some point his friends started tagging along as well. They were wary of Wen Ning at first; an understandable thing; but Lan Sizhui's utter ease around him helped dissuade their nerves.

During these Night Hunts, Wen Ning finds himself doing little things to help keep the juniors out of trouble. Finding them food when they forget or lose their rations. Checking for fresh water. Hanging around nearby as they conduct their hunts to watch and ensure everything moves smoothly, while also giving them a bit of space to do it themselves.

And one night, it gets late. There's no sign of the ghoul they're after, and they're nowhere near an inn or any real shelter of any kind. And Wen Ning, without really thinking about it, scopes out a nice hollowed tree and quickly clears it out before laying down some bedding and spare robes, then ushers the juniors inside. He intends to step out and keep watch; he doesn't need to sleep after all; but they insist he come in with them.

And it's not until they're all fast asleep and he's laying with Sizhui sprawled across his chest the rest of the juniors curled up around him that Wen Ning realizes he's laying in a nest. His nest, that he made. Surrounded by his pups (though that thought is more instinctual than something he consciously realizes)

For reasons he doesn't really understand he feels a bit like crying and for once he's glad that he physically can't. Instead, he takes a shuddering breath and settles more comfortably in the nest, while the juniors sleep on, assured that nothing would dare approach them while Wen Ning is there.
