im having so many thoughts about ethan being trans and his immigrant father’s only daughter. ethan in his mortal family being treated as the most fragile precious thing in the world, and he hates it so fucking much. his father keeps promising that ethan will never have to lift a finger as long as he’s around etc etc and ethan’s temper is so frayed because his entire childhood hes watched his dad break his back to no fruitful avail. he and his dad fight about it, about making promises you cant keep, and if you get sick or hurt or get old it wont matter if im a girl. i’ll be the one supporting you anyway so stop acting like an all-powerful hero. then ethan in camp choking down so much anger because dying children are raising dying children, and just like everything else in his life, he never matters in any significant way and cant change anything. ofc he plucks his eye out for nemesis the moment she offers him the chance to change things i would too
