Preview of my Disco Elysium fanfic <3

Harry finally felt ready to speak. He was slowly coming back into his own body. “I’m sorry. I don’t know how to be any other way.” And then, after a moment: “Can you fix me?”

“I can’t fix you. Only you can fix you.”

“But what if I don’t know how?” Harry knew that he sounded pathetic and sad. But he couldn’t keep the pain out of his voice anymore.

“Then you keep trying, every day, until you figure it out.”

“All by myself?”

“No.” Kim adjusted his glasses. “Not by yourself.”

The two of them met each other’s gaze. Harry took a step forward and pulled Kim into a hug. Kim’s body was rigid at first, but then he relaxed and hugged Harry back. He moved his head to rest on Harry’s shoulder.

They stood for a moment, just breathing. Harry realized that it was the first time that they had ever hugged. Kim felt so small in his arms. He was the most intimidating person that Harry knew, every pore on his body oozing authority. But right now he seemed so vulnerable. His body was warm. His heart was beating, and the blood was flowing through his veins. He was real, and he was here, and there was something so amazing about that.

And a thought dawned upon Harry, a terrible realization.

I…want to have fuck…with Kim.

Reblogging from my main blog hehe go check it out if you want

You ever think about how most if not all the corpses you find in Disco Elysium are parallels to Harry?

The hanged man in the yard, The working class husband, The dog in the street that was killed by an RCM vehicle. Cuno's dad, even.

thinking about the unsolvable case:

somewhere during his last 2 months spiral, harry was assigned a case while he was out of it (high, drunk or probably both). by that time it was pretty evident that he was definitely not ok and still, they left him to work on it on his own. it's explicitly stated that jean and trant decided to sit this one out.

while being under the influence, harry lashes out and beats up a homeless man until he's unconscious. he stops after realizing what he's doing and begins crying. the man is left disabled.

he avoids a disciplinary hearing and then goes on a bender trying to kill himself. he doesn't die, but he does loose his memories temporarily.

martinaise wasn't the first time the people in the 41st precinct negligently left harry alone to do their job while posing a danger to himself and others

Jules treating harry the kindest of all his colleagues is something that isn't talked about enough

And it isn't just that he's kind to Harry! It's that he knows how cruel the rest of them can be and he goes out of his way to try and protect him from that. He doesn't know the extent of Harry's amnesia, he doesn't know that this Harry is truly fundamentally different from the Harry he probably spoke to the week prior, he still approaches him gently regardless.

“omg you’re so creative. how do you get your ideas” i hallucinate a single scene in the taco bell drive thru and then spend 13 months trying to write it

i find the whole "i had unpleasant experiences with leftists before so now im a raging fascist" narrative incredibly funny because we have all had unpleasant experiences with leftists before. it comes free with being a leftist

Disco Elysium! I already posted these drawings on tw*tter when I made them a few years ago, but not yet on tumblr, so here you go. Absolutely loved this game and adored Kim and Harry as characters.

I played my Harry with a focus on purple skills, with Empathy as his signature skill. Such a great experience. How often does it happen that you play a middle-aged man in a video game whose greatest strength is his ability to emphasize with others?

the theme of guilt and shame in disco elysium reads more honestly as queerness to me than almost any other media covering queer guilt in more explicit terms because its emotionally evocative rather than lingering on the causality and social relationality inherant to queer media treating itself as an educational tool, it doesnt need to contextualise a cereberal experience within the identity or social role that it can be understood to outsiders in. idk actually.

Transcript:

Martin Luiga: I don't think a lot of it was fleshed out. But I think it's apparent enough that they do have somewhat strained relationship but they mostly get along well. Its the Precinct 41 and maybe the entire RCM has a tendency to do, create codependent relationships between its officers so they could rely on one another.
The 41st Precinct: I guess like the Hardy Boys its like the brotherhood, right?
Martin Luiga: Yep.

FINALLY WE ARE FREE FROM "HARRY WAS ABUSIVE TO JEAN" IDEA
