honestly before I started playing tgaa, I always envisioned it as an ace attorney game that’s set in the meiji and victorian eras that features sherlock holmes as a side character because it’s the time period and what a fun idea. and I mean that’s definitely not an inaccurate description of the game per se, but it also really undersells just how integral sholmes is to the whole thing.

like the whole game uses the “herlock sholmes” stories as a framing device. ryunosuke and susato literally end up living at 221b in sholmes’ attic. at some point it feels more like shu takumi is writing a holmes story and going “and here are my OCs two law students from japan oh and also holmes and watson’s daughter. I hope you like them :)” and I do. I like them a lot.

Hi! I wanted to know if you know anything about Yuko Tsushima (Dazai's daughter) ?? I'm genuinely curious about her, but she has very little information ;v;

I’m not an expert on Yuko Tsushima (her real name was Satoko Tsushima, so she was like her father Dazai and used a pen name), but I will try and compile what little I do know of her (it is times like this when I wish I spoke Japanese and could use Japanese websites and sources because there would be so much more information than what little has been translated into English!).

Dazai mentioned his daughter Satoko/Yuko in the short story “Cherries”. She was only one when Dazai committed suicide, so there was a only a very brief time he would have written anything that could have mentioned her late in his career/life. He says in “Cherries,” “I say ‘children’, but in my home they’re scarcely more than infants. The eldest, a girl, is seven, the boy four, and the younger daughter is only one. Notwithstanding which, each of them has the parents securely under his or her thumb. The mother and father seem in effect nothing more than slaves to their own offspring…. the oldest, a girl of seven years, and her sister, who was born this spring, have a tendency to catch cold rather easily, but are otherwise healthy and normal. The four-year-old boy, however, is scrawny and still incapable of standing up. He can’t speak or understand a word…” (if you want to read the rest of “Cherries” it is the last story included in Self Portraits). But that is all the references to Satoko/Yuko in her father’s writing.

This got a little long, so I’ve included the rest of the following quote and more under the cut:

There was this quote by Yuko Tsushima from the Chicago Tribune, “My real name is Satoko Tsushima, but I never liked it. When my mother was pregnant, she did a lot of knitting for me. She is a very methodical woman and symmetry is essential for knitting. That is what inspired my mother to decide that name. However, the Chinese character`s form is complete and closed, leaving no hint of an expansion. When the time came for me to think of my own pen name, every writer`s privilege, I chose Yuko, a simple character, but one which suggests movement toward the outside. And it means happiness.I have loved reading since I was little. I don`t remember exactly when and how I got this horrible idea of becoming a novelist, but I shaped my future by entering an essay contest within my college:

Dear Anonymous,

It wasn't known throughout LA or my job, but I suppose there were consequences. His honor and his brother do keep in contact of what's going on and they know my boss very well.

(I did get a salary cut. Some sacrifices are worth making for the truth.)

Hello my friend, my name is Jaafar from North Gaza, I am 24 years old, and finally after waiting for a whole year of killing, displacement, hunger, massacres and genocide against us, the time for a ceasefire has come, thank God we are still alive after all the exhaustion, and during the next week we will return to our homes in North Gaza, which was completely destroyed, unfortunately our area was completely and brutally destroyed and we have nothing left, neither a home, nor property, nor furniture, nor clothes, nor any other clothes, I know that returning to the north will be very painful and difficult due to the lack of the necessities of life, and we will start building our lives from scratch, but we are happy for the war to end.
Please 🙏, donate to my campaign to save my family, even a small amount will help us stabilize ourselves a little, and buy some supplies 🥹, I hope that God will protect your family and friends, thank you 🥰🩵

In the heart of Gaza

, where wounds never heal, a small family refuses to surrender. Their suffering has been transformed into strength, and they have made love their homeland. ❤️‍🩹🍉

Gaza is not just a city , but an immortal spirit, even in the most difficult circumstances. Despite everything, this family dreams of a better day.🏚🔜🏠

We hope you can help us build our lost home. Simple donations make a huge difference in our lives.🌿🇵🇸

Thank you to everyone for your support🫂🥹

thinking about how susato is introduced with kazuma's theme instead of her own, following in her adopted brother's example. thinking about how ryunosuke came forward to defend himself during his own murder trial so he wouldn't ruin kazuma's study tour opportunity. thinking about how kazuma's "death" allowed them both to grow and define themselves and their ambition outside of their relationship with him. thinking about how admiration can hold you back from coming into your own until your guidepost is ripped away from you. in this essay i will

Modern AU sholmes and mikotoba definitely play Just Dance and do every move perfectly. The rest of the 221B gang just watch in the back, mildly horrified and impressed at the same time.
