Argrok's comfy place :3

@alex-argrok / alex-argrok.tumblr.com

A place where I share my hobbies and interests, anime, miniature painting, games and random horrors from far beyond. He/Him.

The Skaven really epitomize what I love about Warhammer.

Theyโ€™re funny rat people who speak weird and go nuts for magical green rocks, but they do horrifying shit like eat children, cannabalism, vivisection and thereโ€™s so many of them that killing them all is impossible and they could singlehandedly bring about the end times without help if they all worked together, but theyโ€™re also funny rat people who smoke magic crackrocks and have chronic backstabbing disorder and theyโ€™re petty as fuck and their god looks at all of this and goesย โ€œlmaoโ€

I wonder what kind of symbolism theyโ€™re trying to get at

โ€œThere are a lot of giant robot shows in Japan, and we did want our story to have a religious theme to help distinguish us. Because Christianity is an uncommon religion in Japan we thought it would be mysterious. None of the staff who worked on Eva are Christians. There is no actual Christian meaning to the show, we just thought the visual symbols of Christianity look cool. If we had known the show would get distributed in the US and Europe we might have rethought that choice.โ€ -Kazuya Tsurumaki, assistant director/art director on Neon Genesis Evangelion

eva is literally fake deep

tbh the Japanese sprinkling Christianity into their media like a cheap vaguely spooky seasoning is a tonic for my soul

[ID: a gif of Evangelion Unit-01 being speared through the hand, then showing it suspended in the air with a spear through each hand and its chest, with three glowing triangular wings of sorts around its head and shoulders. It looks like it has been crucified. End ID.]

I did a report on Evangelion for my Millennium and the Apocalypse class (Yes, Iโ€™m Very Old) and the thing I remember the most was having to explain, over and over again, that the Christian symbolism was an aesthetic and used for entertainment, not to convey religious meaning and the entire class having a goddamn mental break over it because the idea that someone might not have been 1) culturally familiar with and 2) personally invested in Christianity was a goddamn revelation.

"The Committee said on Tuesday that its newly-published report is the first output from a series of meetings exploring what a united Ireland would mean and examines the current economic relationship between the jurisdictions on the island and the potential of the all-island economy.

The report, the Committee said, goes on to examine the cost of a united Ireland and makes the case for planning and preparation for a united Ireland to begin."

some time last year in a daze i signed up to be a community notes contributor on twitter, and i have not used this ability once in any meaningful sense, but i do appreciate that it sometimes provides me with exclusive advance previews of muppet discourse

No fucking way I found my little rubber fetus

Your hwat

When I was like 7 I got this little rubber fetus that was being handed out by pro-life people at a concert. For like 10 years he was my stress ball I would chew on him or throw him at the wall and watch him bounce around. But he started to decay so put him in this prescription bottle and now I just pretend he's a test tube baby
