Kid, I've always known

@ancientouroboros / ancientouroboros.tumblr.com

I love Gravity Falls and MP100 and now apparently the MCU | my art

I like the implication that, in the show, Stan really is perfectly capable of using Real People Swears. Like, he isn’t cosmically constrained by the reality of existing in a kids’ tv show. Instead, for some reason he decided that despite exposing the twins to everything from counterfeiting money to lying to federal agents to a Literal Actual Cosmic Demon God Thing, he’s going to be a good influence in one (1) specific arena and not swear in front of the kids. Like buddy I think it might be too late to pretend to be a responsible adult. The least you can do is teach Dipper every single swear word you know. He deserves it.

It’s funnier when you realize that in Stanchurian Candidate he literally said: “also teach kids swears: that’ll bring ‘em into the real world!

So…does that means every other kid other then dipper and Mabel???

y’all just— thinking about how excited Stanley must have been to host the twins— Alex says he smokes cigars but he doesn’t smoke once in the show— has a beer gut but he only drinks sodas in front of the kids— doesn’t swear when they’re around which must have taken INCREDIBLE effort— Stanley Pines, known crook, buying pancake mix at the supermarket and many bottles of syrup— learning to cook basic healthy meals and burning so many of them before he gets it right— buying new sheets, new mattresses— avoiding bunk beds because it reminds him of Ford— looking at the attic room he made wondering “is this enough will they like me”— trying to act aloof at the bus stop so he doesn’t betray the fact that he was there hours early— watching them goof around and thinking of New Jersey beaches— then the first night they’re there, he watches them debate running away and only stay because Mabel shook a magic 8 ball. That must have kept him awake all night.

I did February 2026 for the Gravity Falls Hunkles Calendar!

And it turns out that that will be the 10th anniversary of the finale!

So I tried to incorporate a lot of nods to the finale in the piece, from the sculpture that Stan is working on (that will be displayed in the Mystery Shack), to the various photos on the fridge.

And of course, for the Bill doodle for the grid page, it had to be Bill's statue form!

Loads of fun doing this, and seeing everybody's pieces come together! You can still get copies of digital versions of this calendar, past calendars, and some past zines, here:

this doesn't really count as a preview of my piece for the 2025/2026 gravity falls hunkles calendar but it doesn't really not count either

and the only way to understand what I mean, because I never remember to post my calendar art, is to go order one from @gfhunklescalendar and be part of the history we're making...together

after you order your calendar drop me an ask with your hunkle stan thoughts and I'll try to turn some of them into art

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've made art for this fandom I know lol, but I was recently able to contribute to the 2025/2026 hunkles calendar (@gfhunklescalendar), which is currently available for preorder! So I thought I'd post a preview of my contribution to help entice anyone who wants to see some hunky hunky grunkles in action!

The calendar is full of a ton of awesome works by super talented amazing artists, and the proceeds will be donated to A New Way of Life! So you not only get a great calendar that you can use for two whole years, you also get to help people in the process! It's a win-win!

Happy Summerween 2024!

(Image ID at the bottom.) So this absolutely got away from me, which is why it's getting posted so late. It's still Summerween here for uh... 45 minutes!

I don't know if this works or not; the concept was, like... the kids convince Ford to put on his badass Portal outfit for Summerween, and then everyone surprises him by whipping up a group costume as refugees from the SciFi Sideburns Dimension.

Dipper's outfit is actually based on a Portal Dipper design I did a few years ago. Yes, Dipper has a Nyarf gun. Yes, Wendy has a Super Soaker. Yes, Soos is armed with his laser-tag gear. Honestly, aside from Mabel's grappling hook, Fiddleford is probably the one with the most actual-weapon-like thing in the group. (But he left off the laser cannons.)

I can think of a few things I wish I'd added, and I already see a mistake, but... gotta get this posted.

[ID. A colored drawing of Stan, Ford, Dipper, Mabel, Soos, Wendy, and Fiddleford all together doing a group costume for Summerween. Ford is dressed in the outfit he was wearing when he came out of the Portal; everyone else is wearing an interpretation of a "dimensional adventurer" outfit. Mabel's outfit is the most colorful and least practical. Fiddleford is sitting high on top of a pair of robot legs. End ID.]

he's here!

Happy 12th anniversary to Gravity Falls

and

Happy birthday to Stan and Ford!

Last year for the occasion, I completed a simple comic about the two of them venturing in to the Pine Barrens of New Jersey in search of the Jersey Devil; whom they found (see the comic here). I'd originally meant that sequence to have two additional pics -- wanting to start it off with them paddling across Glass Shard bay and through the salt marshes to where the pine barrens would begin, and then having a pic of them pulling the canoe up on the river bank to start off on their mission. But, I didn't get those done, obviously.

I still wanted to do that first pic, though; so this year I pulled out the idea and completed it. (I also wanted to do a sort of update of a 2018 piece I did of the two of them canoeing.)

I've talked before about my headcanon that Glass Shard Beach (their hometown) is likely a barrier island, with a wide bay between it and the mainland... even though I also headcanon the town as being in the northern end of the Jersey shore, where there aren't so many wide bays. (Well, that's what makes it a headcanon.) This notion is based on the scenes in the show with them on the swings, with the Stan o' War docked nearby; and with the sun depicted as setting over the water. In New Jersey, if the sun is going to set over water, a bay has to be involved. I've depicted Glass Shard Beach as having a bay before, both in this piece for the 10 Years Later zine, and this piece for their birthday in 2022.

For this one, I looked at a ton of photos of people canoeing; and for the setting, I gathered a lot of photos of the Mullica River estruary and the Great Bay, which has the salt-marsh channels I was envisioning. (Admittedly, my headcanons for Glass Shard Beach are heavily influenced by the Long Beach Island area, where I grew up.)

The time is near! Mark your calendars and set aside some cash for this Summerween, as pre-orders for the GF Hunkles Calendar for 2025/2026 will be going Iive at 6PM EDT on June 22!

This project depends on pre-orders to be funded, so if you want to own a calendar, you must be sure to help us spread the word. Heck, give it a reblog even if you don't intend to buy one. Please?

  • The pre-order period will last 2 weeks, closing on July 6.
  • Since this calendar covers 24 months, it will be priced at $30 USD.
  • To boost the funding for the new calendar, the digital versions of the previous calendars (2022, 2019, and 2017) and the Wayfaring Strangers art book will also be for sale during (and after) the pre-order period. The old digital calendars will be $5, and Wayfaring Strangers will be $10.
  • Calendars and digital downloads will be listed on my Etsy shop: The Salmon Shack
  • Remember, all proceeds from the calendar will be donated to A New Way of Life Reentry Project who provide crucial assistance to people rebuilding their lives after incarceration.

Keep your eyes on this blog for all future updates, and most importantly,

Please reblog!
