I've been responding to some prompts and posts with little bits of writing and tbh sometimes I lose track of them in the chaos so here is a sort of 'masterlist' I guess of the different posts I've responded to. (make sure to give the OPs some love!!). List below. Part 2 Masterlist
I know some fic writers get stressed about writing tropes they think are too popular or overdone, and I need you all to know that I just spent 4 hours reading every iteration of the same exact fic plot I could find, and they all brought me an indescribable amount of joy. Writing multiple fics about the same characters at the same time is so wild. Like: What are you in the mood for today, blorbo? Do you want to experience the harrowing ordeal of growing up in an impoverished neighborhood that has increasing amounts of monstrous murder happening? Or do you wanna go to math camp?
In a context where Batman is known and seen through his public League appearances, the misogynistic, homophobic, "alpha male" guys start using his image to illustrate their discourse of going to the gym, and seeking submissive women. They admire and misinterpret his traits as endorsements of their toxic masculinity. Online, they share images of Batman with stuff like "Be the Alpha, Be the Batman". They even use the word Batmen as a synonym to Alpha Male. "Real Batmen don't show weakness".
When Bruce becomes aware of this, he hates it. He despises them for all their messed up views, knowing they completely misunderstand his principles. Batman's true strength lies in his commitment to justice, empathy, and respect for all individuals, values that are fundamentally opposed to the toxic masculinity they promote. Bruce is determined to distance his image from their rhetoric, seeing them as nothing more than sexist and homophobic idiots.
So he decides to be a tiny tiny bit more Brucie when they appear in public. Not in form, but in substance :
When he's asked a question, he tries to go "I have no clue, I'd have to ask Black Canary.", or "I'm not sure, I'd have to see what Wonder Woman thinks about that", or "This time, we really couldn't have done anything, anything at all, without Supergirl."
Also, Batman becomes more visibly affectionate with Superman. During public appearances, if he senses a camera on them, he makes sure to be seen clinging to Superman. He would rather face dating rumors every day than be associated with those idiotic discourses.
(It's also a good premise for a superbat fake-dating fic !!)
I love the idea of internet bros willfully misinterpreting and appropriating Batman and not only Batman/the Batfam turning it around, but Gotham itself?
Like, every kid who became a teenager because Batman saved their life is on Twitter and Instagram DRAGGING these weirdos because they remember B giving them lollipops and hugging them. Every sex worker who fed B information or was protected from a violent John/the GCPD by him take to the internet to rave about how kind and considerate he is to them. Food service employees talk about their generous tips and having exploitative managers dealt with. Mothers who were coached through emergency labour by Batman adore him. Queer folk made him a Certified Gay Icon alongside Harley and Ivy and he has shown up at Pride. Homeless people love B and the Batfam, because they just give them things and money to help them out and take their victimization seriously (especially when the cops don't).
Gotham knows their Bat, and they make it a point not only to outmeme them about Batman, but hype up their ditzy bimbo prince Bruce Wayne. Some dudebro will shit on Brucie for being an airhead with an Alpha Batman meme and a deluge of Gothamite teenagers will descend in quote tweets like "Sit down and shut up until just looking at Bruce's biceps won't shatter your self-esteem", "Bruce Wayne is only made of three things: That Good Dick, Be Kind and Slutty Waist. You could never", "You wanna fuck his huge tits so bad it makes you stupid" and "Batman drinks so much Respect Women juice it makes everyone around him wet but all the bitches near you cosplaying the Sahara."
Bruce responds to exactly one tweet by a well-known Alpha Male podcaster calling him a whore by saying "Skill issue, babe 💙" and a gif of himself standing in a torrential downpour with his arms open and head tilted back.
(Batman only interacted with one of them once - a real alt-right/neo-Nazi Alpha type. He knocked the guy out in one punch before he even got to speak, and when one of the surrounding reporters (Lois) asked why he did it, he tersely replied "Who the fuck wouldn't punch a fascist?". It goes viral like the Richard Spencer clip.)

OKAY GANG, we finally have mer!Danny.
This one was me questioning what type of mermaid I wanted Danny to be, and basing him off of a Black Marlin was one of the options because they are one of the fastest fish, and Danny has a thing for speed.
BUT, then I saw this AMAZING drawing by @the-stove-is-on-fire , and was introduced to the lovely idea of a wiggly & long phantom. Plus, I think having him be eel-like opens up many more eldritch & creepy type options. For example, I gave eel Danny secondary eyelids, a secondary set of jaws, and a deep-sea version(note: eel skeletons are weird as hell.)
So, let me know what you think :)! I myself am heavily leaning towards making Danny into something of an eel Mermaid. The more spooky the better.
Next up, I'll have some art of Sailor AU Maddie + more Danny & Jack :D! Plus, maybe a slightly redesigned Jazz if I have time.
