I mentioned this in the notes of a post I reblogged earlier today, but I just think it is very interesting how they had Buck and Tommy realise something about each other in two different moments of tension:

  • 811, Buck realises (quite possibly for the first time) that his words do have weight. That Tommy is someone who will take them at face value and will not fight them, will not get into a fight in the way Buck perhaps wanted. And it makes sense, because Tommy is such a straight-forward character, direct in a way that makes you think: oh, you're hiding something. You are this direct because you don't want people to see all the shit you have going underneath. And I think this is the first time Buck is realising the weight of his words, and how Tommy's mind works in that regard.
  • 815, Tommy sees and realises (definitely for the first time) how Buck doesn't necessarily weigh his words. He's been and will always be a man of action, not speeches, and in his actions, he shows the love he has for people and just how much he cares. Tommy is seeing this new aspect of Buck, and perhaps he's realising that Buck's words during that failed breakfast were after the need of action, of arguing, because Buck isn't aware of his words, but he chases after actions that will move things along faster than Tommy's evasive comments.

I don't know. Call me delulu if you want here, but I think it is very interesting how they both are faced with how the other processes an emotional moment (taking things face-value when he perhaps shouldn't; running - acting instead of voicing concerns or feelings, because in the actions there are the care and love).

This, also, goes with what I've believed they've been doing since 811 - work on their issues in the background, make it so they see each other's motives, and so they can understand each other in a deeper level before they go have that talk, before they decide to try again. They're truly starting to see each other now.

The best part? They still want each other.

I honestly feel sad for those who hate Tommy just because of Buddie because he's such a fun character and has so much potential not only for Buck but for a lot of people in the show.

i just think buck looks best pressed into a mattress with wet eyes and flushed cheeks, whining for it while tommy goes “you’re just made for it, aren’t you?” but what do i know i guess.

what it feels like losing another mutual to that 911 show where those guys havent even fucked yet

Oh it’s dire. The people in the notes don’t know Buck’s current love interest is a man who he’s in a will they won’t they situation with and they just hooked up two episodes ago.

the amount of people who think 911 is supernatural 2.0 level queerbait when there’s been a married lesbian couple central to the plot since season one episode one and one of the supposed “bait” characters is canonically bisexual in a situationship with a gay man is genuinely upsetting, and i can’t blame anyone who hasn’t seen the show for thinking that

the canon queer characters who are actually in the show and who you should actually talk about. i am only counting the ones that are reaccuring to season 8 (the current season airing) as other queer characters are no longer in the show (Eva, Michael, David + the multitude of other queer minor characters)

Hen & Karen Wilson: two black lesbian women who have been married since season 1. Hen works for the 118 fire house and Karen is a rocket scientist. They have two children together and fostered other children.

Josh Russo: Works at the LA emergency dispatch as a lead supervising dispatcher, best friend to Maddie [Buckley] Han (man of honor at her wedding!!!!). Loves Halloween and reality television, and all around warm, kind man who deserves someone!!!!

Evan "Buck" Buckley & Tommy Kindard: Buck (Bi) and Tommy (Gay). They are in a bit of a will-they-won't-they-sleeping-with-your-ex-situationship. Buck is newly out and works at the 118 fire house. Tommy has been out for a few years who has past history with the 118 fire house and currently is a firefighter pilot. Here is them making out sloppy style after running into each other at a bar for your viewing pleasure:
