Gosh I haven’t updated this tumblr in 5ever. Anyway at a recent con one of my buddies had a photo booth (find his photo stuff here!!) and wanted to take some ‘coupley’ pics with me and my bf, but we were in costumes that didn’t super make sense for. But we took a few anyway. This one was the least awkward lmfao. So here’s me and my accidental shipping pic of my Loki and  the bf’s Cap.

I’d like to say I’m sorry, but I’m not.

(Also apparently this pic was super popular on Instagram when I posted it. Which I did not see coming.)

Loki’s Army: Costume Group

I’ve been highly inspired by the Knights of Ren facebook costuming group, which has been the most helpful facebook group I’ve ever been apart of, and have started to work on one for Loki costumers. (because we all know there’s lots of em)

It’s currently set to ‘closed’ while I attempt to set things up in it (which just means current posts in it are members only). But the link is HERE if anyone is interested.

I really hope I can contain it to a helpful encouraging group to help others with their Loki costumes and that it doesn’t get crazy and out of hand. Cuz I really just wanna help (where I can I am no where near as skilled as others) and see other people’s builds at the same time. Because there are SO MANY Loki costumes to pick from with the movies, comics and cartoons. Being able to contain as much info in one place as possible would be super helpful. I just wanna build a fun network community of fellow Loki costumers that can help one another out by sharing tips and various locations to buy materials and the like.

Even if you aren’t currently building a Loki costume but think you can help others, would just like to get some input before starting one, or just want to see other people’s builds. As long as you follow the rules in the description you’re welcome to join and invite others.

Did the Resin and Fiberglass work on my Mando helmet finally, started some bondo on the top and then the weather turned to poop again. It’s been crummy the last few days so I haven’t been able to do much since all this.

For anyone curious, this is the same way my Loki helmet was made. c:

Hello!! You posed with my friend on the Sunday of the Expo where we were all Sailor Avengers! I have the shot in a recent photoset but tumblr doesn't let me send links :< Also, that sceptre you bought looks absolutely incredible! I had no idea they even sold things like that!

Aaah I will try to find it Thank youu~

Your group was pretty great. one of my friends would have probably loved you guys if she could have gone.

That particular scepter is actually so hard to find. King Arts so far is the only company to make an official replica of it. Which is why I jumped at buying it despite the high price tag. It would have cost me more if I tried to order it online. I’m a bit of a collector (mostly cuz I don’t have space/funds to be considered more than ‘a bit’) so I often know of a lot of collectibles the general fandom has no idea exists. It’s a curse when you find things you can’t afford/get due to country restrictions on products. It’s sometimes better to be blissfully unaware of what’s out there. It hurts your wallet less. lmfao

Oh yes~

Yes, this full scale replica got added to the Loki hoard of things this weekend from the Calgary Expo. And I uhh.... can’t use my credit card for a while now because I gotta pay this thing off. Basically this item has such an inflated price compared to what it was when it was first released, because that’s just the nature of the collectibles scene (things sometimes spike in price FAST). But I managed to get it for less than the booths price tag on it making it cost less than me having to pay for it online at the moment. They dropped the price for me because I was dressed as Loki, lol (Which is actually great sales tactics, pandering to your crowds and making happy customers).

I don’t have pics of it fully out yet because I need to clear a space for it so I can assemble the stand and have it look all pretty on display. I paid too much for it to be knocked around and potentially wrecked.

Which is also why, before anyone asks, NO I am not going to be using it as a cosplay prop. If anything I’ll use it as reference to make a convention safe version for me to use and abuse. This one is going to be for display purposes only.

Alright so, I’m about to break my bank account by heading to two cons one weekend after the other.

Calgary Expo, and then the Regina FanExpo.

I’ve never done that before, but it should be fun. Regina is still new, I think it’s only their second year, so it’s likely going to be tiny. But I’m cool with that. Sometimes smaller cons are better. They’re less crowded.

My first Thor movie Loki is coming with me to both. MAYBE a comic Loki will be included. But I’ve been putting along with that one and taking forever to finish it. Even though it’s not actually that complicated. lol

So, I’ve been trying to repaint my Movie Loki armour in time to bring it with me to the Calgary Expo, and this is me getting frustrated with certain areas that would not cooperate....  (the grey is the primer under the gold)

I wont be bringing my Movie Loki armour to the Calgary Expo this year, it needs some important repairs. The helmet has a crack (Don't try to put things on in cold weather that's how I cracked it...) and the armour in general needs touch-ups and paint re-dos. If I tried to put that helmet on as is, I'd probably break it beyond repair. I'd rather not do that. lol

SO~ I'm working on a Mirkwood style elf (no specific character), and if time allows, I'll have a comic version Loki with me.

Been working on something new.

Had some obnoxious hiccups while trying to figure out pattern instructions. Seriously it's like they're written in another language entirely and are given the worst diagrams. But so far it's working out for me.

Sleeves are more baggy than they should be but I already took them in once and will probably screw something up if I try again. But, A+ for second full sewing project ever (I'm modding part of a stock pattern by Burda). One can only get better at sewing if they do it more often to practice, right?

Everyone! Please vote for my friend’s amazing Sauron costume here:

No plastic or foam here. It’s ALL METAL.

I can’t wait to see it in persooooon. *rolls around excitedly*

Boosting for votes~

The best part is the knowledge that this is only the 3rd set of metal armour he's ever made. And look how stunning it is. That my friends, is natural talent.

It’s that time once again! If you’re a cosplayer or photographer attending this year’s Calgary Expo, don’t miss the end-of-con photo shoot! Look how much it grew in just a year! We even made the paper the next day!

Complete details to come, but usually everyone meets on the steps of the Saddledome at the end of Sunday. If a crazy Joker or one of his henchmen doesn’t track you down at the con to inform you, you can also keep an eye on the Facebook event for all the updates!

Tell your friends! Pass it around! Reblog!
