Hi, I'm Basu.

I like writing, organizing projects and talking about my fave characters/ships. Currently, into It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Metalocalypse & South Park.

I don’t have a DNI because I don’t believe in being able to control who interacts with me/my content. I believe in freedom to block, though, and that’s what I apply to curate my online experience.

Role reversal: before & after The Duel

Noticed a little something while thinking of DSR so of course I'm making a post about it.

So, we're right at the end of Some Time Ago, when Toki arrives. He's late for the auditions and he knows it but he asks for a chance regardless. He's convinced that it was fated for all of them to be together and he wants to prove it.

Nathan, Pickles and Murderface don't seem to be too impressed. They just watched their lead guitarist destroy a bunch of people that attempted to join their band, it's clear they don't think this guy will be any different.

Meanwhile, Skwisgaar isn't even directly portrayed. He's merely a dark silhouette in the back, representing both his unavailability and the apparent gap there seems to be between him and Toki.

I have been wondering their relationship for a while. At my first time to watch this cartoon, I was like, "Did Skwisgaar get Toki into the band for making fun of him? " Apparently not. Though Skwissgar is always afraid that toki would supass him in guitar skills (even had a nightmare for this ), he is still willing to express his care to Toki such as using a defibrillator to tap Toki during a panic attack (poor Toki)

They get something from each other. Toki takes Skwissgaar as his benchmark and aimed to exceed him; Skwissgaar gets the joy of being worshipped from Toki.

The constant bickering and conflicts between them always get resolved in the most touching way, and I just can't get enough of it.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

#thank you for the comment!#and yes they have a fairly complex relationship that people like to oversimplify with 'they hate each other!'#when the reality is that it's much more deep than that#there's definitely resentment from both sides#but it's rootin' from love and how the other half fails to live up to said love#from toki. it's that he feels like skwisgaar is merely abusing him#from skwisgaar. it's that he feels that toki stopped caring about that which binded them together in the first place#they both feel forgotten in a way#and of course add their own insecurities and you have a recipe for disaster#i love them so <3#and your doodle of them is so cute hehehe#metalocalypse#skwisgaar skwigelf#toki wartooth#skwistok

i love characters who do the “i worship the myth i make of you” and in turn dehumanize and get wrong the object of their devotion and love. yes project a thing that does not exist onto a pedestal and kneel at it like it is your altar. this will surely not blow up in both of your faces eventually
