i strongly dislike koreaboos, especially as a korean-american
but i saw this video on tiktok that made me laugh so hard. a girl was complaining about koreaboos studying abroad in korea but some of the things she imitated is literally how my friends and i talk LMAO
i use konglish ironically and butcher my pronunciation as a joke. i add “jogeum” in front of every english adjective with a purposely bad accent and it’s a sarcastic thing amongst my k-a friend group
so when she mocked “neomu slay” i nearly died of laughter. when i heard it, i was like “wait that’s kinda funny” and immediately wanted to use it to my k-a friends
obviously, my reaction would be very different if a non-korean said that unironically. more so if it was said with an intent on mocking my language. honestly, sometimes korean-americans speak like that unironically bc they’ve lost their mother tongue but still try to stay in touch with whatever connection they have left
but in the context of someone else hearing the way my k-a friends and i joke around, i found it hilarious to suddenly realize how stupid we sound LOL now i’m gonna be like “wait i swear i’m not a koreaboo” whenever i catch myself talking like that in public
in conclusion, i will probably be using “neomu slay” as a meme but will cringe so hard if a non korean-american says it

after much thought and hesitation, i have ultimately made the decision to discontinue this smau. i usually don’t post smaus until they’re completely done so it’s my fault for thinking i could post while writing. i don’t do well under self created deadlines and i honestly lost inspiration. i wanted to push through and finish but my mental health hasn’t been at its best. i love writing and don’t want it to become stressful for me
i do have a general ending in mind for the plot, if anyone’s interested in asking questions. but other than that, sadly this is the last of boyz over flowers
i am so sorry to disappoint everyone who’s shown love and support for this smau. i promise i’ll be back with a better prepared smau !!
