Hey guys, can we talk about how the switch 2 is 450 dollars? How games are gonna cost 80 dollars on it? How it's gonna cost 10 dollars to transfer games from your old switch, and more if those games have dlc? Can we please talk about how fucked up this is?

We genuinely shouldn't let Nintendo do this, we as the consumers have the right to fair prices. We need to remind Nintendo that their games and consoles are not things people need and putting such high prices on them is fucking stupid.

Yes it’s called the mammalian diving response and it’s also why doing face masks and taking a shower is soothing. Our amphibian ancestors used this mechanism to slow down the heartbeat and lower body temperature so as not to waste calories while swimming (which is very calorie intensive). It makes you feel safe because predators are less likely to get you in water than on land. The fish brain is alive and well in all of us.

  1. Consoles cost money to make, and they cost more money to make when some orange dumbass slpas tariffs on the a bunch of foreign countries. Nintendo doesn't sell hardware at a loss.
  2. Thus far only one Switch 2 game has been priced 80 dollars, it is not the standard price for all games. And games also cost money to make.
  3. It does not cost money to transfer your switch games to to Switch 2. If you own a Switch Game, you can just play it on Switch 2 with no additional cost. Certain Switch 1 games are getting enhanced versions for the Switch two, and if you already own the switch version of them you can upgrade it raather than buying a second copy. The upgrade is free unless the new version has substantial additional content in it.
  4. Games and consoles cost money to make and manufacture, and that developement cost has only been going up in recent years because the prices of everything have been going up, including the stuff that goes into making games. You are not arguing for fair prices, you are arguing for unfair prices that benefit you.

  1. The switch is unreasonably priced globally, this isn't exclusively a USA problem, and both the PS5 and Xbox series S are cheaper (PS5 is 400 and the xbox is 300 at gamestop)
  2. while you are right only one game has had a confirmed price, it is still unreasonable to price a game at 80 dollars even if it is only one game, and also based on the information we know right now it is reasonable to assume that 80 dollars will be the standard switch 2 game price.

  1. That doesn't mean that the tariffs aren't playing a role in the price. It means that their spreading the cost around in multiple regions to avoid an even bigger price hike in a single region. And as for the PS5 prices, the 400 dollar version is the Digital only version of the console that lacks the ability to play a physical game. The version that could play physical games was 500 dollars. And the most recent, most advanced PS5 is 700 dollars. The Xbox Series X is also 500 dollars,

2. A game has to be priced to make a profit. If the development cost and manufacturing costs work out to a game needing to be 80 dollars in order to turn a profit, that's a reasonable price.

3. We know of two big ticket swtich exclusives right now: Mario Kart World, and Donkey Kong Bananza. World is 80 and Bananza is 70. So no I don't think it's reasonable to assume that 80 is the standard price.

4. The other major consoles business model is to sell the consoles at a loss and make up the difference through sales of software. Nintendo doesn't do that. If they did, the prices of the games would rise even further. And from what I've gathered, the vast majority of modern gen games still make versions for the previous gen consoles because unless you're making a game specifically to utilize the current gen specs, most games can be run fine on the previous hardware. The Switch is on par with the previous gen, so it'll be able to run most modern games.

  2. no it is not a reasonable price, both on it's own and compared to other games. other big games on the market right now are 70 dollars (which i still think is a bit much!)

Just because the switch will be able to run switch 2 games doesn't make this entirely fine and ignorable, the problem is that nintendo is trying to overprice their products to siphon money out of their consumers, and if we just go with this shit other companies will follow suit. I dont care how many hoops you jump through, you cant justify these prices.

also my responses are shorter because i am losing energy and interest. I am about ready to just block you if you keep just stating false information and half truths to try and convince me that nintendo is actually super chill and justified for this and that 80 dollars is tooootalllyyyyy reasonable for a mario kart game.

I never mentioned tariffs, the switch isn't 450 when bundled with mario kart world it's 500. At gamestop a ps5 is 400 and an xbox is 300. The prices are also unrelated to tariffs, as they are globally absurdly high, and I do think it will stop people from buying it.
