Hyunjin sat in his usual corner of the stage, watching as the others milled about excitedly, busy with their individual roles. Or rather, watching just one person.
Y/n was too busy taking measurements for Chan's suit to notice his eyes following her every move. The way her lips pressed into a thin line as she focused, the slight furrow of her brow, The carefully delicate movements of her fingers along the fabric-
“Hey, Look at you, all cleaned up today!” Changbin’s booming voice shook him from his trance, looking around just in time to see his roommate coming over to slump unceremoniously to the ground next to him.
Hyunjin was startled out of his visions, looking to the intrusion- pardon me- best friend who spoke. “Huh? Oh- yea! Uh, thought, maybe, I should get it together I guess.” Hyunjin shrugged trying to be casual about the situation. “And, thank you for dragging me here. I genuinely am having a good time” the man smiled shyly. Changbin was beside himself with pride.
“Of course! I care about you, and I know the breakup was harsh, but-” Binnie mulled over his words carefully “-I am glad you are here too.” slapping his hand on Hyunjins shoulder only to get up and replace where Chan had been earlier.
As if planned out, Chan made his way over to sit next to Hyunjin.
“So, have you thought about what song you’re going to audition with?” He asked, leaning back on his hands.
“Ehh. not really, I’m not exactly well versed in musicals.” Hyunjin replied, eyes slipping back to Y/n every now and then as he spoke.
“If you want, I can give you some suggestions that would fit your voice,” Chan offered. “Though you’re pretty good at singing already, so it shouldn’t be too big of a deal for you.”
“I guess,” Hyunjin shrugged self-consciously. Chan had been trying to get Hyunjin to join his band ever since freshmen year, but Hyunjin had always found an excuse to dodge out of it. Now that they were working on the musical together, Chan was finally getting his way and getting to work with Hyune on music. “Thanks, hyung.”
“Of course, happy to help!” The elder said happily, pushing back to his feet and wandering over to break up an argument between Minho and Jisung before they got too loud.
“Hey, Hyunjin?” His head whipped around at the sound of his name, zeroing in on the owner of the voice instantly.
