Nobody was expected to work the day after Starfall which you were grateful for.
You had told your mother everything only after omitting what had happened initially on the balcony. She didn’t say anything. Instead she just listened and looked at you with an unreadable expression, her eyes shaded with an emotion you couldn’t name.
Your mother knew this would come. As someone who had a mate for almost six hundred years she recognized the signs. Cassian’s consistent presence was the first sign; he was always searching for you even when you weren’t supposed to be working. He’d come to the door and ask to see you, using the excuse that it was for work but he never brought any materials with him. But she entertained him and revealed your location. Perhaps it was meddling but Cassian was nice and even if her suspicions were wrong he was a good friend to you and she knew how desperately you needed that.
