blu!! she/her, lil3 on ao3

(in which chris is attempting his cool dad arc, scallisaac are not being subtle, and isaac is being slyly incorporated into a found family)

summary:

Sensing his attention on them, Allison cranes over her right shoulder and is quickly caught by the paper in his hands. Her lips quirk playfully. โ€œSo,โ€ she drawls out, โ€œhow did I do?โ€ Wiping his face blank, Chris keeps his voice level and unimpressed as he says, โ€œA C+ in Art. Really, Al?โ€ Itโ€™s a joke, because Allison knows the last thing Chris cares about is her ability to paint a banana or whatever the Beacon Hills High curriculum calls for these days. She'll hit back with a blithe comment about the teacher not understanding her budding Michaelangelic vision and then heโ€™ll crack, and it'll be one of those good moments Chris can keep for those longer nights. But some hunter Chris is, for not considering all the variables in his environment.

this is like. purely based off my own headcanon so iโ€™m gonna sound delusional but i feel like itโ€™s so important that kyle looks nothing like maura. at least not at first glance. like maybe when you really look at them you can see the similarities in the smiles, nose, cheeks, eye shape, etc but in terms of coloring they couldnโ€™t be further apart. as per her original appearance (i hate you winick for giving her a blond bob and lipoโ€ฆ) she has fair skin auburn hair and green eyes while kyle has black hair brown eyes and at the very least tan skin. i feel like looking at the only parent you have and not being able to see yourself at all really adds so much to their dynamic between the disconnect he feels and her looking at him and seeing gabriel every time.

also does anyone else think about how they were poor. like the only job maura could get was as a cleaning lady and they lived in a trailer for a while. and yet she always found a way to give kyle all the things he wanted like his room was full of toys and comics and she paid for his karate lessons and art lessons and whatever else he was obsessed with at the time. she set a box on fire in the yard so he could put it out with the hose because he wanted to be a firefighterโ€ฆshe truly tried her absolute hardest to give him everything and the saddest thing is that she tried so hard it drove him awayโ€ฆ

this is going to sound very unserious because itโ€™s april fools but also there is a difference between rpf (FICTION), truthing (believing in something but does not necessarily mean you ship them, eg. lorde powerpoint), and believing people should get/ are together irl (eg. larries). one person making a rpf joke on twitter doesnโ€™t mean theyโ€™re ignoring their real life relationships. come on now.

also WHERE was this contempt when annoying people would go into youtube comments (esp if itโ€™s a channel run by a woman) and go โ€œooOooOh you talked to your male friend for three seconds are you guys dating ooOooOhโ€ because afaik it it still happening in this fandom. [tone of iranian yogurt reddit comment] rpf is not the issue here, itโ€™s the people doing real life shipping in cc spaces like youtube comments and twitch chat.

rpf as a term gets misinterpreted so much. rpf doesnโ€™t have to be shipping. rps (real people shipping) is the actual term, whereas real people fiction is just. idk. Fiction. doctor who is rpf. the crown is rpf. historical dramas? rpf. gordon ramsey gets isekaiโ€™d? rpf. writing a detailed imagine post about your ccs meeting up at twitchcon? rpf.

also i get the feeling people only punch down on rpf people because theyโ€™re easy targets minding their own business in the fandom. no one wants to punch down on comments on youtube because โ€œeveryone knows doing it in the comments is badโ€ so you donโ€™t feel morally superior about it. you donโ€™t want to do discourse in comments and thereโ€™s no other way to contact people so you canโ€™t make vague tweets and send asks in the way you do to people on fandom social media. if people can let those comments slide then maybe they can let rpf slide. just saying
