I'm so confused, why did they change character's names? Like I could understand (but not agree with) changing a name to make it easier to read, but what could've been the point of changing Sherry to Sophie?
I don't know for that one, which is why I'm really hoping they do a localization blog post for that specifically.
I remember they wanted to, back during Trio of Town's loc, rename Lisette to Carolina. Lisette is still a real name! They decided against Carolina, but I have no idea how they even came to the notion of wanting to change it in the first place.
Very much decisions that make me go "hrrmmmm."
Are there any physical bonuses for ordering SoS: Grand Bazaar in Japanese or just digital bonuses? If so, do you have a reference of where?
Also - I'm enjoying your comments on the game!
There are!

Ebten usually has the best, but most limited, pre-order items. This time it's a set of 4 acrylic cards, a tumbler cup, and mini tote bag!
There are other physical items like acrylic standees and badge pins!
Damn, I'm really gonna need a dev log on why some decisions were made
I also need to say it right now, you can't have things both ways.
This game is German, Austrian, Danish, and Polish cultures altogether.
If you argue for Japanese students keeping their names instead of naming Natsuko to Natalie, then you also advocate for contextually appropriate names to be applied to their localization.
As an Example, Erich to Erik and Enge to June takes away their Austrian background.
I'm a bit disappointed to see that taken away again.

Do Not Like that they bazingad the timeline again
Here's why Charles and Ronaldo from HOLV don't work: HOLV is a remake of STH which occurs at the same time and place as SNES.
The island games and Grand Bazaar go hand in hand, with Grand Bazaar being the main land that trades with Sunny Island. This is why Pierre is there, why Chen and Gannon show up.
Also in the island games, the married couples of FOMT appear on vacation, and FOMT is a remake of BTN which was supposed to be based around the descendants of their(STH/SNES) predecessors in Magical Melody.
Karina being there makes no sense unless I need to make revisions with Olive Town happening in the same time period.
It doesn't add up anymore what's going on
Okay so I made a list of all the villagers that they had on that one ign video
WHY IS AGI/ANGELO GABRIEL NOW!! WHAT!! I mean I think I don't hate it but... Agi was so cute ;~; if they have marriage nicknames I'm naming him that
it's nice that Diana gets a brother, Harold being in charge of the post makes me think about Dirk in tales of two towns... I wonder if they are friends somehow
Rebecca from a new beginning with shops at the bazaar?
OKAY BUT!!!! Do we know Don Ramón?? yeah right?? from El Chavo del Ocho?? From classic maxican comedy show?? Yeah. Don Ramón in his youth.... before he married miku.... if they don't make a reference in the Spanish translation I'll cry.
Aditions in a reblog is live, I can't add everything here!!
these two were missing on the other video
Ronald from save the homeland/magical melody/hero of leaf valley!!
Charles from hero of leaf valley! I wonder if any of this could hit to a hero of leaf valley remake? sigh, goodbye hmds remake ;~;
A new character as the weather radio presenter? Also it seems like they are befriendable!!!
This place is too big and empty, damn....
I miss this place not looking like a sauna, I liked that, the ambience... the mystery....
Well, here come the maps!
They merged the town map with the bazaar road map, also I don't see the skateboard/snowboard slope,, maybe it was moved to the mountains?? I see the harvest sprite hut in it's place.... personally I don't like everything being so close together ALSO Lloyd's house is here now too.
Your farm seems to connect directly fron the top with the town now.
New building for the post office! Will it work like in trio of towns?
They remade this whole thing completely where am I...........
The bazaar looks nice imo
Wth is the thing in the middle?? cannot be for wedding right??
That's all I got rn!

Wait, Karina is here. Why.
I also saw Charles HOLV here, which shouldn't be possible for timeline reasons.
Okay, here's why I didn't like this review. Once again, the person doing this review is entitled to their opinion, but there's just a lot of things here that I really don't agree with and I'll break it down into a few items as I'm on limited time.
1. I need every reviewer that says "this game didn't innovate on anything" to pay me $50.
This is THE game, besides My Little Shop, that actually innovated on gameplay in the series. It's also the one with the most unique gameplay out of the entire series, with the whole point of the game being commerce and how agriculture and commerce go hand in hand.
Because this was such a departure from the series norms, this is actually one of the most underplayed games in the series. There were no harvest sprites, and no Harvest Goddess in the original. The idea of farming being a secondary notion that led into the main gameplay of the Bazaar and shop management was a new thing.
2. It's not meant to wow people with new farm items or hybrid crops. Instead, Grand Bazaar is VERY Danish and implements the Danes reliance on the whims of nature through the application of the Windmill to produce more products over time. Wind and weather is super important to this title, giving negative weather events a gameplay twist in unexpected ways that can turn it into positives.
You have to think outside of the box with this game in terms of planning. That's a Good thing!!
3. GRAND BAZAAR WAS 2008. It's been 15 YEARS.
Remake fatigue CAN be a thing, but this was one of the prime candidates for getting a second look because a) it was bound to the DS b) was underappreciated c) had unique systems that deserved to be brought back.
The DS screen? 256 x 192 pixels. A screen size for ants. The switch supports 1920x1080p, and even larger displays when plugged into a TV. There is charm to the original for sure, but to say that the remake is not visually more appealing is an insult.
Look at it.
This is what we had before.
I'm sorry you guys were expecting a new game sooner, but Grand Bazaar needs this.
