I am very convinced that Saint Just would be an owl, I have no proof and no doubts
Some interesting things I want to share from the Museum of Mexican History.
First and second picture: Invitation of the Superior Board of the Chapultepec Forest for the celebration of the Centennial of the Independence of Mexico. Directed to the deputy Enrique Landa and his family. September 1910.
And would you look at that, a mexican pickelhaube! It was made in Berlin, belonging to the series donated by Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany to General Don Porfirio Díaz for the celebrations of the first centenary of National Independence, and were for the personal guards of General Díaz. It is adorned with feathers and carries the national shield with the eagle open in front.
Aaaand there’s also a grand gala bicorn used for division generals.
Behind these objects there was a portrait of Porfirio Díaz himself. A fact: When Diaz became president for the first time in 1877, he did not carry out any political campaign: he simply counted on the support of the regional leaders, who arranged the elections in their states to guarantee his triumph.
Although Porfirio did influenced in the political decisions, he recognized that he should grant a certain margin of autonomy to the regional elites to count on his support, and at the same time he had to be the supreme arbiter to avoid conflicts between groups that would possibly end in a blood bath.
Third picture: Set of bills issued by various banks and revolutionary factions.
Long story short, the Mexican Revolution begun on November 20, 1910 and altered the economic/social order of the country. The lack of cash forced municipal authorities, military chiefs and merchants, miners and landowners to issue pieces of need. Thus, from 1913 to 1915 the currency of necessity reappeared in Mexico. Several metal pieces were minted in different parts of the Republic but, above all, the paper emissions multiplied. The first to issue this type of pieces was Venustiano Carranza, First Chief of the Constitutionalist Army and leader of the anti-Huerta struggle; who, in turn, authorized numerous revolutionary leaders to issue their own bills, vouchers and tickets to raise campaign funds.
Fourth picture: (Above, from right to left)
1. Cross to Revolutionary Merit, first period, 1910-1911. 2. Constitutionalist Medal of the Mexican Republic of the Army. 3. Plate of the Second American Invasion, granted to those who fought in defense of their homeland in 1914.
(Down, from right to left) 4. Plate granted to the Veterans of the Revolution, 1910-1917. 5. Plate granted to the Precursors of the Revolution, 1909-1910. 6. Finally, plate of the decoration of the North American Navy, 1911-1917.
I asked you before about 🐍
And now I wanna ask you about tallien
Why everyone hates him that much? It's because of what he done on 9 thermidor only? No other reasons?
( they hate him more than fouché honestly-)
i was so caught up in work i forgot about this ask 1000x sorry
for Tallien i think it’s a mix of what he did on 9 Thermidor and what he did immediately after. like most other Thermidorians, he was initially a Montagnard who felt threatened after being recalled to Paris from a mission, and most importantly (to him), his aristocrat girlfriend Theresia Cabarrus was imprisoned prior to Thermidor. as a grown man he was 100% responsible for his own actions, but Theresia also manipulated him to oppose Robespierre specifically and get her out of jail. this discrepancy between his personal motivations, insignificant compared to the scale of the Revolution, and the fact that his messy interruption is what launched anti-robespierrist deputies into action on 9 Thermidor is already infuriating. but then you also have the aftermath, where he distorted the intentions behind all the drastic measures taken the precedent year in a way that not only gratuitously vilified Robespierre, but also gave the perfect excuse for right wing deputies to annihilate the popular side of the Revolution. worse of all, despite being forgotten as a historical figure, the narrative he created after Thermidor still thrives to this day. when you hear the words “system of terror” or “Robespierre’s reign of terror” it’s actually Tallien whispering into your ear. Fouché, Collot, etc and other Montagnard deputies actually called him out on this.
there’s more, but this part is the cherry on top of the cake. since he was so successful in all these thermidorian endeavors, you might think “damn that Tallien was smart” but he was not. he wasted the momentum Thermidor gave him. after Thermidor, Theresia (now out of jail) humiliated and ditched him; he lost political credibility because he failed to realize he himself also fell under the “terrorist” category that he had created and denounced in the same breath; the rest of his life isn’t brilliant either.
TL;DR he took a giant swing at the Revolution for petty reasons and destroyed the Montagne (both materially and its reputation); yet all he gained from it is two seconds of fame immediately followed by a lifetime of misfortunes. i don’t think he ever expressed regrets over Thermidor too, unlike Billaud-Varenne for example.
Tallien is a bitch
Could you please tell Citizen Saint-Just that he is very much a cutie patootie
What does this mean. -Citizen Saint-Just
They mean to say you have an adorable ass! How do you not know such lustful phrases, were you not briefly a libertine before your infatuation with Robespierre consumed you?
While I'm on the topic: why is it always the desperate and pathetic clowns who reduce my most sincere affection to an "infatuation"? Besides the fact that none of you could naturally ever understand a relationship like ours?
Naïve child! It is not returned in kind! He trounces on your sincerest affections; and nary delivers respect in kind. He is ten years your senior, and sees you nothing but a doll, a plaything. You pacify him like a teat pacifies an angered infant! It is not love! You are blinded by his passion and no other! You think for yourself no longer! Where once you stood for liberty, now you are a velvety mouthpiece for Terror!
And I think you're projecting onto me a lot of yourself and of the way you treat people as objects to be used for your own pleasure.
A-ha! You bind me so throughly! For if I continue to call him a child —as he conducts himself— I am the abuser; and if I ask “how do you not believe such a thing?” I am victim to the folly you mention! I am no fool!
Let us ponder this evidence. Saint-Just is agreeable —no malice with this statement, correct? He is a soldier — a man of Martian appeals. . .He takes orders as well as a whore might He prostitutes himself to the ideals of those above him! He would make a great libertine if he could only think for himself!
Robespierre you are a lawyer - an orator! Your occupation has you argue and make sway a judge or jury. Would not a silvered tongue as yours slip into the ears of sweet Saint-Just? Even if you do not mean harm— surely you do not, your very nature titillate the fires of his heart beyond what you plan for yourself. He hears you beck, and he calls in return.
You have such a fanciful pet.
You are aware that you are talking to two of the most maligned and vilified men in recent history, aren't you? Your feeble attempt at stirring up scandal and outrage pales in comparison to two centuries of slander - most just as unoriginal as yours.
It seems rather hypocritical, to be quite honest. Are you feigning concern on my behalf? How bizarre. But most importantly: why should it concern you if I were?
Best crossover ever
I aspire to have a title like this written about me one day
A very effective campaign of propaganda and slander.
🙄
The entire article is even worse... it compares these two with Hitler ☹️
I started researching about the person who wrote the article (surprising the number of titles it has and the little scientific rigor it follows) and found the following:
“In december, 2007, the Heritage Foundation (The same one that proposed the ultra-conservative 2025 plan in favor of Trump)
in Washington, appointed Reed as a visiting senior member. (Lol)
Then:
(Then, he is praised by the founder of LFF, who promoted conservative ideas to say the least and libertarian on campus)
He said “Reed is the best defender of the freedom in U.S.A” (yes, a conservative libertarian)
Oh, and he was a republican candidate in 1982.
Although I have not currently found much information about his current opinions, he declares himself as anti-communist and anti-fascist, however he militates in a party that is fascist and also ultra conservative. The only opinion I found is criticizing the Democrats (opinion of less than 1 month approximately). I'm not in favor of the Democrats, but honestly we can't compare them to the Republicans right now.
Oh, and of course, his article throwing shit at Babeuf and Mark without saying why he throws shit at Babeuf and Mark. He doesn't justify, he doesn't argue, he just argues. Meaningless rhetoric and only persuades by using quotes from other authors.
In an interview he said that he was studying economics to discredit all the communists. But at the same time he says that he is against the state and political power, as well as the centralization of power... ah. I don't know much about economics if I'm honest, but what I have minimal notion of (lol, it's my career) is about politics, and this gentleman is blinder than a mole. I am in favor of criticising all the political and economic systems that exist, but you have to be rigorous and know how to argue without the need for rhetoric. It is misleading because it does not seem to take the article to any point, it seems like a personal opinion mixed with an attempt at analysis without basis, sense or methodology. What I actually find worrying is that this gentleman is a recognized economist.
Post Data: I JUST FOUND THIS- (he’s defending TRUMP)
(Like: Yeah, he’s responsable for many things but-)
And here is ANOTHER
(This man is DEFENDING Elon, Trump and all the Rich…)
Damn they had weed in the 18th century????
Thermidorian propaganda leaflet in 1794: One of the many hideous habits that Robespierre had was the smoking of weed. He would engage in this practice even during our CSP meetings, so that nobody could breathe or even say a word, apart from his villainous accomplices Couthon and Saint-Just. This, of course, was another one of the dictator’s heinous plans to silence and intimidate us. At one meeting, Carnot humbly requested that they cease this habit and Saint-Just cruelly retorted “I shall do as I please. If my smoking weed displeases you, you are free to leave.” This response was delivered in such a cold and haughty manner that it drove him to tears. How joyful should we be, now that we are rid of these scoundrels?
