Something about Shiva finally calling Cassandra as “Daughter of the Bat” feels important. Like, she finally recognising that Cassandra has a family of her own that isn’t just blood-based.

Bruce did NOT know how to have a normal conversation until he started thinking of them like the classic 5 paragraph essays. cause obviously you don’t start your essay by jumping to the main point and then leaving that’s not how essays work, he has to introduce the topic of the conversation between some meaningless filler (pleasantries) then get into why he’s actually here and leave room for others arguments (actual discussion) while often referring to previous points (nobody is listening and he has to repeat himself) and then he has to tie a little bow around everything by reiterating the main points and leaving with a snappy little sentence to impress the audience (actually saying goodbye instead of just walking away)

there was a steep and deeply awkward learning curve where he literally just talked like he was reading directly from an essay or prompter before he figured how to smooth it out

the justice league of course aren’t on the receiving end of this hard earned skill it is solely reserved for Brucie

thinking about how Shiva’s first mistake with Cass was underestimating her, the exact opposite of Batman’s mistake of holding her to an impossible perfect standard. Shiva asks Cass to hand back her pearls with a broken arm she assumes Cass wouldn’t (or couldn’t) use and she still gets her shit rocked 😭

may I suggest the “Everyone breaks” / “But not you.” / “Everyone breaks. Even me” conversation for an angsty Batfamily fic? Bruce calmly explaining to each subsequent Robin that there will be a point where everyone — even him — will break under torture. because to break is to be human, ultimately. their job, just like Bruce’s, is to hold out long enough that breaking isn’t yet a possibility. long enough to be found, to be rescued, to be safe. your job is to banter, to deflect, to drag things out and speed them up where applicable. to keep away from your breaking point at all costs. because you will break. it’s not a question of if, but when. and knowing exactly where that breaking point is for yourself will always be an asset, not a liability. the people who go into interrogation assuming they will never break - those are the liabilities. they will break hard and fast because it is so unexpected.

or, the one where Bruce trains Robins to outlast torture methods that have put JL members on the floor, but it’s not because he trains them physically. it’s a mental game, and his birds play it like masters.
