What if the Court of Nightmares rebelled against Rhysand?

Chapter 1 of my fic about the rebellion in the Court of Nightmares has been posted to my ao3 here!

If you're interested, please check it out and leave a comment!

Long before Amarantha came to Prythian, an eldest daughter from the Court of Nightmares entered into a marriage with Rhysand, the future High Lord of Night. It was a political arrangement and not a particularly happy union, but it was necessary to prevent unrest in the Hewn City. Unfortunately, centuries pass and Amarantha's reign leaves scars all across the land. Prythian's stability is questioned. The Bride of Spring is stolen. And the Lady of Night mysteriously ends up dead after discovering that Rhysand has found his mate.

When news of her death arrives, the Hewn City is pushed to its breaking point. A rebellion sparks and the flames are fanned by centuries of abuse and mistreatment. Rhysand may not believe there are any dreamers left in the Court of Nightmares, but he's wrong--and those dreamers vow to be his downfall.

While lots of reapings have been rigged, I wish people would understand that it makes no sense for every single reaping in the history of the Hunger Games to be rigged.

Prim wasn't reaped in order to further punish Haymitch. He'd already been broken beyond repair and pushed everyone away.

She was reaped for Suzanne Collins to show us that the odds are never in our favor, with Prim having 1 slip of paper in there versus her sister's 20.

The original trilogy was about a girl who just wanted to save her sister that turned into so much more. It wasn't a sort of chosen one story.

au where at the end of the war the high lords refuse to bring back rhysand cause "if feyre got their powers what about him" and then he actually dies but because feyre was never chosen by the magic of the land she isn't the next high lady and instead it's actually mor's brother and the ic go mental cause they all lose their jobs and have to deal with the repercussions of their lack of action

I love all books but sometimes you read a book and you’re like so were all 21 thousand of you blindfolded and at gun point when you rated it 5 stars

This has been mentioned before, and said better than this...

But Rhysand showing up with his entire entourage to the High Lord Meeting will never not be funny to me!

Like no other High Lord did that. Other than Beron bringing Eris. Meanwhile, Tamlin showed up by himself in a hostile environment, like a whirlwind with receipts and the only Hybern intel in the meeting. How can anyone not love that 'fu-rebellious-I'm still going to do the right thing-courage?

i know i said i’d shut up about acotar but i’ve never seen a fantasy society so primed for a populist revolution as the night court. all the wealthy merchants and artists are from one single city while a disenfranchised rural population is expected to provide the armies and die for them without seeing any of that wealth? not to mention the fact that the wealthy city elite don’t have to go to war? “oh nooo our greatest threat is koschei the deathless sorcerererrrr” your greatest threat is your citizens discovering class consciousness.

Im too exhausted to support this statement right now, but I’d love to hear your takes on it:

I think Feyre really embodied this sense of toxic masculinity from “traditionalist views”, that while everyone suffers at the hands of her doing so, people like her sisters, Lucien, Tamlin, the women in her court, etc, suffer the most.

We all know she’s not a girl’s girl until it comes to Mor. It even gave me the biggest ick the first time I read Feyre think “I’ve never had a female friend before”. Like what do you mean??? You were rich for eleven years, there were women in the village to talk to as well- you didn’t start hunting until you were fourteen- what were you doing for nineteen years? Are you that unlikeable that not a single woman will befriend you?

And I’m of the full belief that Feyre coming home after hunting, tracking her dirty ass clothing through the house with no care, belittling her sisters who do domestic labor because she doesn’t view it as valuable, demanding she gets a bath immediately and overall being a fucking verbally abusive menace is exactly the same vibe as a 1950’s husband coming back from work.

I apologize but I’ve literally never hated a character more in my entire LIFE than Feyre Archeron, and it baffles me that there are people who like her. HOW.

Rhysand stans when they talk about Nesta: How dare she make Feyre go out and hunt and sit on her ass and do nothing even though she was a child too! How dare she treat everyone at solstice that way even though she sat quietly in corner not bothering anyone! How dare she not want to be around the IC when she expressively told these people to leave her alone! How dare she use Rhysand's money to pay for things instead of getting a job even though technically she has a job as the human emissary and Rhysand probably owes her for her work during the war! How dare her trauma response be acting angrily, sleep around, and drink even though the 500+ year olds do that too and she's just 25! I don't care what Nesta has been through that's no way to treat people, Feyre went through worse even though Nesta experienced grooming, SA, and physical abuse as a child.

Rhysand Stans when defending Rhys: He was trying to protect her, that's not SA. He's a victim of SA too! He has every right to be mad at Nesta because she harmed his mate even though Feyre said she forgave her. He was just trying to not stress her out eve though he was making decisions over her body, he's such a feminist king! He has very right to tell Tamlin to go die even though he fucked off and is not bothering them and saved Rhys's life during the war when he didn't have to, he is the bigger male. What he did in book 1 is water under the bridge he had a ten page monologue where he gave excuses for his action and never once did he say the words I'm sorry. Rhys is so great for protecting his mate during pregnancy and forcing Nesta to live in the HOW even though Tamlin did the same thing and we hate him for it. He is such a great leader even though 2/3 of his court hate him, he does nothing for the Illyrian women and the CON women, says they only stopped slavery in NC because it was too difficult to keep the humans enthralled and not because it's immoral, and said that both side in the war did bad things even though one side was fighting for the enslavement of a whole race. Why are all the courts mean to him he had mask on, it's not like he worked with the enemy and terrorized everyone and probably killed children, he apologized!

but sure Nesta is the horrible villain. People just really hate women don't they.
