The World Is Quiet Here
Hi! I’m Ilona, She/Her.
I post about the Snicketverse, The Basic Eight, The Mysterious Benedict Society and occasionally other random books/fandoms.
This blog is a safe space for all LGBTQ+ people and not a safe space for TERFS. Heavily NSFW blogs will also be blocked on sight.
Update: I am going to be posting some Hazbin Hotel content. Before I lose followers, I do not condone Vivziepop or Amazon, and I pirated the show.

My DMs are always open for fandom discussion and exchanging fic recs. I’m a writer myself (both fanfiction and original fiction) and would be happy to collaborate/beta read your story.

Amateur detective who encounters someone on a case who seems to know too much, except not about the thing they’re investigating. About something bigger, darker. And for the first time curiosity and obsession lures them away from the case they’d sworn to solve, too caught up in this other person and their secrets to care about it anymore.

Agent for an organisation of barely fathomable size and power, or which at least aspires to be, watching someone with a brilliant mind waste it on trivial concerns. Laying a breadcrumb trail of distractions for them, and seeing them follow it with voraciously. Slowly beginning to reciprocate this curious soul’s obsession. Leading them, without their knowledge, into knowing too much, so they have no choice but to join them.

Do you see it. Do you see the vision.

Member since….well, it’s been a long time.

(clinking coffee mugs together) cheers to that, may the chapters be delightful and the plot twists in books read a thousand times be a million times still effective

“One of the strongest feelings I remember from my childhood is, precisely, of being humiliated; of being knocked about by words, acts, or situations. Isn’t it a fact that children are always feeling deeply humiliated in their relations with grown-ups and each other? I have a feeling children spend a good deal of their time humiliating one another. Our whole education is just one long humiliation, and it was even more so when I was a child. One of the wounds I’ve found hardest to bear in my adult life has been the fear of humiliation, and the sense of being humiliated. Every time I read a review, for instance — whether laudatory or not — this feeling awakes. To humiliate and be humiliated, I think, is a crucial element in our whole social structure.”

I’m pretty firmly in the “sugar bowl is empty” camp but I do think something inside would rattle if you gave it a shake. If it passed hands in front of you you’d hear something clinking, as though something were inside of it— but you know maybe it could have just been the lid shifting as well— and then it’s been slipped into a bag and you won’t see it again for another thirty years
