POANG Pals Secret Santa 2024 Fic Recs

For my Secret Santa, @unremarkablehouse who loves lighthearted and comfort MSR set during the original run. I have combed through my secret Ao3 bookmarks to give you a fic rec list for the next year. 52 in total, one for each week. They don't all fit the brief exactly, there are touches of angst and UST and more than a few go beyond Requiem. But they are all wonderful stories that I hope very much that you will enjoy. With thanks to @lilydalexf , whose format for fic recs I have used as the gold standard.

For @unremarkablehouse , a fic about life in your namesake.

So the thing is that I half remember reading this idea in a fic at some point so I was going to check and see if I could find it and that didn't work lol. But the further thought I was referring to while responding to @limnsaber's post re: Mulder's mother's death, musing about his asking Scully to do an autopsy on her (even though l, if you go with the hints that his mother's family was Jewish, that would be against the culture she was born with even if she left it behind). I think it wasn't so much that he was looking to find out if there was foul play in her death, I think deep down he knew there wasn't (and I think he probably feared in his adolescence that she would do something like that when things were at their worst, he treats her like he's afraid she'll shatter if pushed unless he's very angry and motivated otherwise). My thought was that on some subconscious level he was looking for evidence of his sister. A sign in his mother's body that she'd existed at all and that their childhood had happened. It has been so long and his memory and beliefs had shifted so many times, and Teena had mostly shifted into pretending none of it had ever happened. And, on a more literal sci-fi level, with all the clones and fertility and eugenics plots and the doubles of Samantha that CSM made and kept, the abnormalities in his DNA, his ability to recover from the hybrid blood infection when others can't, I think he could have had some nagging concerns about if either of them were ever 'real' people, lack of green poison blood or not. If she ever birthed them or wanted them or if they just happened to her, the way bad things happened to women close to men tied with the project.

Literal and metaphorical questions about his mother and his origins that he couldn't articulate to Scully, and with no answers that either his mother's body or Scully could give him.
