Shadowlight Week 2025

We're excited to announce that we've teamed up with @dailystingue on X for Shadowlight Week 2025, a celebration of the friendship/relationship between Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney of Sabertooth!

The event will run from April 28 th 'til May 4th (May the fourth be with you). An entire week!

This year, we asked you guys for help with prompts, and you delivered!

Prompts we picked from votes and suggestions are:

We’ll be accepting:

More for the Sting fans on how Sting Eucliffe is Wasted Potential™:

  • Sting’s magic is centered around holiness and divinity and purity. Maybe give him some healing or support powers to fit with the theme? Maybe not to the extent of Wendy–but Jesus, Wendy was originally going to be a water dragon slayer. Sting’s theme fits much more.
  • In the Grand Magic Games, maybe actually have Sting’s Claw stigmata actually succeed in paralyzing Natsu, or better yet, cause that fucker some agony. Or all of Sting’s attacks, really–Natsu is a demon, Mashima, you missed a seriously good opportunity for foreshadowing in favor of having your MC wave his dick around.
  • The same goes for the demons Sting encounters later–Mard Geer, specifically. Although Mard Geer may completely outmatch Sting and Rogue, it would still be cool if Sting’s attacks, though of low power to him, actually hurt him due to his nature as a demon and Sting’s White Slayer magic.
  • Or maybe just pull Sting and Rogue into the Tartaros arc earlier than the last freaking fight, where you had them accomplish nothing so that Gray and Natsu could look good????
  • Ironically, the first fight where Sting is effective (as in….ever….) is against Larcade, a man who also has religious connotations and themes. Though the fight was nothing if not sinful…
  • Would you care to give Sting some actually unique abilities? Aside from aforementioned paralyzing stigmata that has so far failed to cause any noteworthy effect, Sting has no real unique moves. All of them just seem to resemble random beams of light with appropriate names like Blast and Ray. While it may fit the theme, it does poorly if all that we can see of Sting’s capabilities is “beam spam”. Gajeel has the ability to turn parts of his body into iron and mold it into any shape. Wendy can heal wounds and revive the dragons’ dead. Rogue can melt into his shadow. Laxus has other magics like Fairy Law and Body-Link. 
  • Moving on the above, we appreciate Sting being trusted with Rogue’s powers and becoming more combat-effective and unique–he’s now one of the three slayers with dual elements. It still doesn’t help that Rogue’s abilities aren’t new, though.
  • I demand a White Shadow/Lightning Flame/Iron Shadow Dragon Unison Raid immediately. Fuck….it’s imbalanced. 2/3 of them have secondary shadow powers, damn it. Even when Sting’s unique, he’s still not unique.
  • Radical Idea: Make Sting the first slayer with three elements ohhhhh shiiiiit. Please eat Orga’s lightning bro.
  • Did Sting ever get a Second Origin unlock? Aww, who am I kidding, that was just a cheap Fairy Tail powerup that came back to haunt us with DiMaria Yesta.
  • Real talk, even taking out the fact that Bloodman is a demon, Sting fighting him could’ve been an idea: have him able to “purify” or “cleanse” the Magic Barrier Particles. 
  • Could Sting help exorcise Irene??? Maybe???
  • You have plenty of ideas to work on to build Sting’s “white/divinity/holiness” theme. So many of them are unexplored–more of them go into Larcade than into Sting, who was around longer (though this may be because Larcade is a Dragneel and thus More Important Than You).
