bugs when you lift up a rock
I LOVE how you made Carpenter aromantic, I was wondering what was the process behind making that decision and how you incorporated it into the script?
Thank you very much!
Well, the issue of how social normativity (and in this case specifically amatonormativity) can put us under intense pressure to perform in certain ways - to conform into a shape that's pleasing and expected to those around us and which allows us to navigate more easily through the morass of other people but which may end up consuming us - is a big underlying theme across both of our shows, both in its own right and as an example of our wider preoccupation about how our hopeless yearning to make sense of ourselves can end up destroying us.
With that in mind, Carpenter's confident and settled aromanticism felt very appropriate as an expression of her existential self-reliance and her ability, through self-knowledge and just a little obstinacy, to avoid getting trapped into a shape that someone else has chosen for her. She goes one better than the Promised Bride in that sense (Although that said, I really did want to ensure she still felt relatable and real as an aro individual, and not just as - like she says - an allegory.)
Representative Rashida Tlaib (the only Palestinian member of the US Congress) holds up a sign saying "WAR CRIMINAL" and "GUILTY OF GENOCIDE" as Benjamin Netanyahu addresses Congress.
"Representative Rashida Tlaib's statement resonates deeply with our suppressed cries, exposing the injustice and brutality we endure daily in Gaza. My family, like thousands of others here, lives in constant hell. Our homes are destroyed, our dreams shattered, and we struggle every day to find food amidst the devastation and hunger. My young children, including my infant daughter, don't know the taste of safety; they live in perpetual fear of bombings and explosions.
We don't ask for much, just to live with dignity and safety, and a better future for ourselves and our children. We want our children to go to schools instead of hospitals, to play in parks instead of hiding in shelters, and to have a chance at a normal life like children everywhere else. We are human, and our children deserve life and joy like any other child in the world. When will the world hear our cries and extend a helping hand?
We are exhausted from losing our loved ones and living in constant fear. We are not seeking revenge, but peace and dignity. We want to build a new life where our children can grow in an environment filled with hope and optimism. We want our children to know that a better future awaits them, a future full of opportunities and beautiful challenges.
We ask the world to look upon us with compassion and justice, to acknowledge our suffering, and to help us achieve our simple dreams of living in peace. Our children deserve to grow up in a better world where they can achieve their dreams and live with dignity. When will the day come when we see the light at the end of this dark tunnel? 🕊️"

loving the mr bonzo leitneresque hate train because personally i find this fucker one of the funniest things sonny jims has ever written for this universe. what do you mean a government organisation has a list of supernatural assassins and one of them is a sweaty hungry lap dancer monstrosity who used to star in a children’s tv show and now crashes bachelor parties bringing frankly rancid vibes. are you shittin me i love this guy
