I post fandom shit and occasionally make art. 20. they/them.

My reference sheet for recent important news (updating as I find more)

Places mentioned so far: Cuba, Germany, Mexico, UK, USA, Europe in general.

Elon Musk has promised to give a shit ton of money to the campaign of a far right felon from the UK which has also sparked protests (I lost the link for this one because my search history is being erased and new things are being censored as I research)

New Canada Tariffs could affect US power grids and therefore our: electricity, connection, phone calls, heat in the winter, ac in the summer, refrigerators.

Things that are censored that I can’t access as an American:

“Elon Musk UK”

“reproductiverights.gov”

Certain pages on government websites (having to do with rights and the constitution)(it would take more time to list/find them all and I’m more focused on finding ways to find more news to get around censorship ie: looking news up in a different language.)

Okay so I brushed it off the first 10 tens because I thought “well some are an accident and some are just people being sarcastic or agreeing”

But I’ve gotten wayyyy too many comments of the “🥰” emoji under a very serious and sad theory video about how Maysilee Donner basically has an ED forced on her by society as she takes appetite suppressants.

I’m starting to get wayyyy suspicious because it seems the hate comments “stoped”, and now I’m just getting THIS??? Anyone have any clue???

I was gonna make a hunger games oc in my sketchbook, but I found a piece of tennantite on it?? 😭😭 I had to quickly put it in rock time out…

(The small piece behind the 15 is the only I found today, the bigger piece I got earlier)

the worst part about the stereotype that young people are lazy is that it makes so much of our work seem invalid. i know so many kids who have 6+ hours of homework a day, do sports/extracurricular activities, have jobs, get less than 5 hours of sleep a night from studying, and still get dismissed as being lazy just cause their room isn’t clean

I used to get fucking straight A’s and everyone still joked about how lazy I was because I was too depressed to keep my room clean. I’m still furious about that.

Bro I can’t ever watch videos about Jane Austen things now bc people are constantly missing the point. I only trust interpretations from autistic lesbians with a strong sense of humor atp (/hj)

One of the more subtle but biggest takeaways for me from SROTR is how the wealth inequality is portrayed. District 12 doesn’t seem as poor, the capital doesn’t seem as rich. I know others have commented on this, but to me it read as an obvious commentary on “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”.

What’s striking to me is what this implies about Katniss’s parents, specifically Asterid. The gap between the Seam and Town is still very present, but daily conditions in the Seam are described very differently by Katniss and Haymitch.

For Haymitch, life is hard for folks, but there’s no talk of people dropping dead from starvation. Whereas, for Katniss, she describes this as a real danger and likelihood multiple times. There’s a possibility that it still occurs as broadly during SROTR, but the exclusion seems purposeful on Suzanne’s part.

Anyway, I couldn’t stop thinking about Asterid and how, when she chose to leave Town for the Seam, it wasn’t the same “death sentence” that it would become in Katniss’s books. I don’t think this makes Burdock and her love any less meaningful, but it made her loss even more impactful.

When he dies, she’s left poorer and more vulnerable than when she married him, and she’s left without the life partner that would have made it all bearable. Ouch.
