Mapicc is always cutting off emotionally charged moments from his lifesteal videos. So many lines that could ever evoke some kind of sadness or pain within the viewer towards these characters. He narrates it all detachedly. It makes me wonder how much of Mapicc that we see within lore is him playing into his character for the sake of his content or the sake of Zam's content or because to an extent it does hurt him. He can't put that into his videos.

Like at the end of his recording with Zam before he confronted him about the wardens he said, "recordings over, im actually mad" and like? What does that mean? Was that for the sake of Zam's content, was that HIM? In the end it ended up in his video about devotion duo break up but this was said before that, before he even knew he was going to make a video about it so like, what did he mean here?

And those conversations he has with Zam too, he includes them in his videos but alot of the moments where he seems to become slightly emotionally vulnerable before him he dosent include in the videos.

But Mapicc is good at roleplay, he's been a main charachter almost (not really tbh but to an extent) as much as Zam has throughout the past few seaosns and hes always willing to share how he feels on stream. Its kind of jarring sometimes because he always randomly deafens and just drops it all on the viewers, everything he feels in a few lines; "Chat did i really use Zam?", how he felt about the empire not being there for him, how he was annoyed with the chungpire for bothering him about mending his relationship with zam...

Who is that for? For him in the future? To exclude from his videos? For Zam? For who? Why? And if he hated being emotionally vulnerable i really dont think hed go live at all...

Blurry, blurry lines.

#No. no because i'm so absolutely normal about you saying he plays into the character for zam's content and only zams content#though also i think.. i think it is just him. re: my damn long mapicc essay where it's both and all three etc etc#but specifically the “im actually mad” and “did I use zam” etc are such particular moments of vulnerability#that breech beyond the roleplay into the real emotions of playing the server#but youre so so so right about so many scenes where he lays out his emotions and says rp stuff and then NEVER includes those#i actually never noticed how huge that extent is until just now in rewatching a bit of the devotions video#he really does just cut around the most heavy hitting lines from stream#maybe embarrassment? maybe condensing it to streamline the yt algorithm content?#mabye he just says it all to illicit the reaction from zam and anyone else#bc like ive noticed how much his trash talk is just straight rp. and that deosnt make it into the videos either#and from those reactions the story is created and the unscriptedness can be harnessed. so in a way it is just for others#bc the only thing he needs from it is the reactions. not the actual words#and yet. because zam is The Lore Guy basically. all the rp he does vastly. Vastly. helps Zam's content.#i'm left also thinking about Unironic Crashout Rant stream especially the moment writing signs#that's another that is just done for stream and never made it anywhere. just pure processing the emotions and leaning into it#and its like pure 50/50 on rp vs streamer talking to chat. but also how it does help process in a way#just remembering how much he cut loose in being mean back to chat and it got him laughing about the situation#and the more he leans into the rp the more dumb responses he can get from chat who dont realize whats going on#and how he said more recently how he likes looking down and reading a dumbass chat message to get angry about or whatever#devotions#mapicc
Planet (about Mapicc): he-- he only works with you to rid of whatever else is taking your attention away from him

followed up by "he wants to be your number one enemy soo bad" 😭 its true i fear......

Awesome Devotions moment and Evil and Intimidating Pentar (clipped terribly due to the youtube clip feature hating me)

Transcription:

Zam: Mapicc! Mapicc! I love you!

Mapicc: love you too - i'm in my car I'm almost home.

Zam: yay! I'm so excited!

Pentar: crash!

random bit of devotions analysis I thought of during the finale.

When Zam gets hit and takes a lot of damage (like by Spoke), he crouches and makes himself smaller. But when get gets terrible terrible news like Woogie telling him he was going to ban himself without zam even there, he backs into a corner, but doesn't crouch.

Meanwhile Mapicc almost never crouches in battle, but will crouch during particularly stressful moments of lore.

PrinceZam has an oath. It’s written in a book (presumably with a blood instead of the ink), which lies in his echest (he had to lose two of them to finally learn to do it). Mapicc never read it. He doesn’t need to: he knows its rules by heart.

And, at some point, its contents is a full stop against who Mapicc is. It can suit Zam, even if seeing him like that was still so strange, but it’d never suit Mapicc. Mapicc was a murderer at first, despite the times and his role, someone who actually fully lived only killing people around, even if he had his rules and a pride, even if he also abided by the cycles. He needs to kill, and Mane and Flame are far out of his league. Sometimes he accepts it. Usually he does not.

clip takes place after zam betrays and leaves team awesome, and before mapicc starts castle arc

Mapicc, reading chat: “Place a string”? I don’t know how that’s gonna help.

Mapicc holds tab, showing just him and Zam online.

<Mapicc> prince

Mapicc: Prince. I miss him.

<PrinceZam> yea
<Mapicc> yea

Mapicc giggles.

they're both in the wrong. they're both in the right. neither is right. neither is wrong.

The entire damn season has lead to this, from that first fateful day when Mapicc failed to kill a naked princezam. The arrow that symbolized their relationship, Passed from one to the other when they finally resolved their differences with mawn and became teamed, just a team of them two, with their own teams on the side.

The arrow that sat in the prime spot of Mapicc's echest from then on, a constant reminder of Zam's presence. The devotion for each other that can go from being each other's throats shouting "BITCH BITCH BITCH BITCH" as one runs away, can become a comforting reminder of their devotion to always be there for each other.

Now hidden away where it doesn't have to be seen.

When Mapicc did things that hurt Zam she was okay with laying her head low, apologising, changing her morals, working around her oath, and sticking by Mapicc.

Zam did things that hurt Mapicc. They were never directed at him, Often they were done out of refusal to fight him directly. Yet Mapicc still saw the lack of support during Mawn, and how Zam threw hearts at Bacon (when he was their enemy) as betrayal. And was hurt.

Due to Mapicc’s reactions to being hurt being usually violent, and directed towards Zam, it’s easier for his feelings and needs to be overshadowed compared to Zam’s in discussions. Because he sees himself as the victim even after being the perpetrator of some real damaging stuff - stuff that is often way worse than the what is done against him. Because yeah, Despite everything that happened to both of them, Mapicc is sitting on a comfortable 20 hearts, while Zam is on 4 BECAUSE of Mapicc and how many times she has been killed by him. Mapicc’s response to things is usually fighting and violence. He has self preservation and self interest very high on his priority list. While Zam’s n1 response to situations is usually self sabotage. That’s why their conflicts work so well. Zam throws herself at Mapicc many times, and just accepts whatever the outcome is (most of the time she knows she’s gonna lose).

But still Mapicc’s original worries and feelings are still valid. And they come out of a place of care for Zam and insecurity in himself. He just doesn't know how to deal with them. When he’s in a heated discussion with Zam he starts saying how "if killing you is gonna end this conversation, then i will do it” just another way of saying “i would rather hurt you than deal with my own feelings”.

It’s crazy to me that they both seem to not see the care and effort they each put into their relationship. it seems to be all about "who used who more" when, it genuinely is not about that. (Recently yes. Mapicc admitted to using Zam for the flame fight when wanting to cut her off. and yesterday he wanted to use her to get Mane with the arrow cannon). But all this talk about using one another is.. Quite frankly useless.

When Mapicc first mentioned the feeling of being used by Zam, it was all about his jealousy towards Derapchu, Zam’s new 20 heart teammate, and not being included in plans anymore. He felt like Zam was just calling him whenever she was in danger and needed help. Yet during *that talk* After the flame void trap, Zam asked Mapicc to stay by her side, and Mapicc refused. And says “if you ever need help with a fight or are in a dire situation. call me”, when he was accusing Zam of only using him for fights prior to this. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. He only sees Himself useful in pvp. So mainly renders himself available for pvp fights. Or it could be projection? He accuses others of seeing him only for PVP skill. When He's the first one to do that. During the same talk he says “I provide what? pvp skill, that’s what i'm saying bro, that’s all i'm good for” And assumes everyone else does too… And I genuinely think this is what this misunderstanding all boils down to: Mapicc’s insecurities about himself, and his place next to people. After a teamless season, Zam pulling away might’ve gone better if it didn’t, in his eyes, prove exactly Mapicc’s worries. (but he's also an hypocrite as he's the first one to throw Zam away when the empire logged back on).

Mapicc pushes his feelings, and Zam, away. Says he didn’t mean the apology that day, because being angry has always been easier than being vulnerable for Mapicc. And this time Zam just doesn’t take it. All this time of having Mapicc’s insecurities being projected onto her, Mapicc actually uses her for the creeking thing, blows up her flower field and he couldn't be more blunt about his hatred for her, when all she's done is be there for him. And she snaps. “Mapicc should’ve known him this way. He just used me”, and looks back and picks apart every single thing Mapicc has done wrong to her, which to be fair. There is a lot. But also conveniently leaves out all of the hearts he gave her, she leaves out how many times Mapicc jumped back into a fight just to try and save Zam, Even though it didn’t benefit him directly. She leaves out how the other day Mapicc left her a heart in a chest. When you have the full picture you KNOW these two care about each other.

They’re so used to being by each other's side, and so bad at communicating the care they have for one another, that the second something goes wrong all they’re left with is their unresolved feelings, that they never got over, and use it as a weapon to hurt the other.

When Zam accuses Mapicc of using her, he replies “how did I use you, what did I get out of you exactly”. Even telling Minute “how did I use him, he’s the dropper” again giving this image of how he sees other’s (and by extension his) value through their fighting skills. As if "It wouldn't make sense that he would use Zam, because she is not as skilled as pvp as him". This of course isn’t what he actually believes. It was almost what he wanted Zam to believe, (and what he wants to believe himself, but he cannot even stick to this version in his head, as he replies that "I never said you did nothing" to Zam. when that's exactly what he was implying) because that is easier to explain, it makes more sense for “Mapicc” to believe that than for him to admit a “i care about you”.

And when Mapicc was alone with his thoughts, he thought about what Zam was saying to him... Did he actually use her? He says that, if he did, it wasn't on purpose.... Well except that one time. Which he sees as justified since Zam gave hearts to his enemy! Bacon... who... is now his teammate...... huh.... and the team really wants them to reconcile and he realizes that it just not might be his call as he was the one that farmed her until she was at 4 hearts... hmmm........ I'm so excited to see where this will go.

“no i gave my last fucking shield to zam before he died” why are mapicc and zam completely unable to keep the others name out of their mouth . like it’s impossible for them

Codependent devotions, post betrayal, noticing each other's absence in the smallest things...

Mapicc's hoodie gets torn each battle, it's nothing new. Hundreds of stiches, miscolored threads, some parts borrowed from other clothes.

And it's like any other fight, and of course they tore a hole right through his clothes. The needle doesn't feel right between his fingers, he stares at the yarn with more questions than answers.

And he could ask his teammates to help him sew his hoodie together, but he doesn't want them to think he can't do it by himself. So he sits, clothing in his lap, absently starting at it.

Because there had always been someone to help sew it. And so gets a new clothes.

Zam loves patrolling Spawn. Taking the sights in, sighing in content.

But he can't help but notice how silence stretches between every building, every gap between bricks are filled with stillness.

And there are people, because there are always people. But his eyes involuntarily scan the crowd, gaze trying to find anything.

He hears Flame first before he sees him, and his fingers twitch to type a message. But his hand freezes, and so does his whole body.

Flame saw him already. Nobody says anything when he dies.

one of my favorite headcanons is that mapicc cries easily, while it takes a lot for zam to shed a tear.

whenever mapicc experiences a moderately intense emotion he will be reduced to tears. and it doesn’t even have to be a negative one. ro makes a particularly dumb joke? he’s tearing up almost instantly. meanwhile, zam could be going through her own personal hell and her eyes would be completely dry.

so picture this: they’ve just respawned, zam has died several times in a row, but she’s nowhere near crying. meanwhile, mapicc has had the previous night’s discovery on his mind during the whole fight, and by the time he brings it up his voice is already cracking, eyes prickling. while he’s listening to zam try and explain herself, tears are already falling down his cheeks. when he starts punching and punching and punching his eyes are waterfalls and his tears mix with zam’s own blood.

zam respawns, and she still is nowhere near crying.

she sees mapicc again, and his eyes are red and his cheeks swole from crying. his voice still cracks.

zam dies twice after that. still nothing.

it’s not until woogie talks to her one on one and she’s the most vulnerable she’s been in a while that she crumbles.
