Are people using parentheses differently now? The typical use is to denote non essential information but from what I have been noticing recently is it’s being used to explain obvious intent or hidden subtext. Not sure what the rule are, I just like that the usage is evolving as things are want to do.

Oh I've been seeing that usage myself, sort of a clearer alternative to tone tags.
