i love when characters lie to themselves in the complete privacy of their own minds
I especially love when the lie is that things will turn out fine, despite all evidence to the contrary :)

I just used the line “that’s not an asshole move, it’s a whole asshole ballet” and I’m kinda proud of it so it’s going here where it will get the recognition it deserves.
A pas de douche, if you will
All right, the rest of you can go home, this one wins.

Sometimes you guys will say things like "writing is like dragging your vagina through a WWII trench full of rusty nails and wires" and it makes me think we are doing different things.

I wonder if people with hearing aids ever just go "yeah, that's enough. I'm done hearing today", and take them off. Just going "fuck it" and put your surroundings on mute.
Actually yeah my late Grandpa did exactly that on my uncle's wedding when the priest couldn't shut up about the family values and how important it is for the happy couple to have children and be catholic and not like SOME OTHERS in front of the groom's lesbian sister and her girlfriend
Gosh is miss him

They say that the way you should view disagreements in relationships is “us vs the problem” and not “me vs them” and I think that to a certain extent that mindset can also be helpful when engaging in political or ideological movements
Taking feminism as an example, it’s a lot easier to see trans people and intersex people and even cis men as your allies within the movement when you view your movement as “us vs inequality and sexism” and not “women vs men”
If you’re some form of a socialist then working with people with different political ideologies than you becomes a lot easier when you view the problem as “us vs the bad system” instead of “socialists vs everyone else”
I personally at least find most problems easier to tackle once I attach this sort of mindset into it. You do not inherently in every situation need to view other human beings as your enemy. And in fact when your goal is to solve the problem and not to Defeat Your Opponent then you can get more creative with your problem solving.
girl who finally is going back to reading by finishing one book: now i'm going to read all the books in the world.
