He/him, bi-ace, early 30s. I originally started this blog over a decade ago to vent in a safe environment about some mental health issues. Then along the way got clocked upside the head with the realization that I was way less socially aware than I thought I was, and decided to stay for the social justice education, the positivity, and the friends I made.

The Friendly Necromancer

-A Pokemon Fanfiction

Banette is a pokemon that exists to give meaning to abandoned and discarded things. Typically they do this by possessing abandoned dolls when they evolve from their first form Shuppet. But when an ill-treated boy dies alone a friendly Shuppet he named Diya takes it upon itself to give his life meaning. Diya possesses and revives his body, becoming a Banette, and sets out to make the boy's dream of becoming a pokemon trainer come true.
Along the way Diya makes friends, fights some pokemon, finds a deep and abiding love of scarves, blurs the line between living and dead, accidentally becomes a necromancer, and to everyone's surprise even finds the time to accomplish its original goal and catch a pokemon or three.

[This lovely fanart is by Large_Egg, posted on their account here. Go give them a comment if you like it.]

Also, here's some inside-book-cover reviews comments, if you want something other than just the author's word to recommend this.

Sengachi writes death and life's little everyday events with equal reverence. -Guile
I really hope this story takes off cause I've never read anything like it and by God do I want to keep reading it. -Tech Priest Gemm
This story is magical. The first chapter made me cry like a waterfall but Diya is so optimistic and happy about the world I cant help but feel the same. -Bloodalchemy
I love this chapter, not only because of the joy and wonder as Diya explores this world through a new perspective, but also, on a sort of meta level, how it mirrors starting up a new game and immersing yourself in that world feels. There's the same kind of curiosity and wonder ... I probably felt something a lot like that when I first played pokemon Diamond! -polaris_writes

Hey. Look at me. Please leave yourself a note somewhere you'll see it later that says "it is going to take years if not decades to get the United States government to the level of functionality it had in November of 2024." If we elect a democrat in 2028, we are not going to be up and running by 2032.

Please make sure you have a reminder in your phone reminding you to not look at 2028/32/36 Democratic candidates and say "why are they not promising/delivering Cool Shit?" because you are going to understand that to get Cool Shit we must have competent people running a decently funded government, and we are not going to have that.

We are not getting UBI. We are not getting single payer healthcare. We are not getting free college or free preschool. We are not redistributing wealth on a large scale. We are not getting free internet. We are not getting ranked choice voting.

If we are lucky, we are going to get an IRS that can collect taxes, qualified schoolteachers, research grants, Social Security, and a government that thinks maybe it should be a priority for people around the worlds to not have AIDS, malaria or TB.

To be clear, I don't mean we should forget or take our eyes off the ultimate long-term goals of getting Cool Shit, but to get there, we're gonna have to support things like "half-measures" and "small steps" and "not tearing down people who won't get us all the way there" and "understanding that they are starting from the basement basically because every government institution is being decimated"

Also though, we absolutely cannot accept the shit we were and currently are getting from the Democrats though. They have to go or be fully remade as a party. Continued somewhat slowed decline and entrenchment of conservative shifts isn't just not enough, it's a guarantee that we'll see another fascist movement in short order and be even less able to defend against that. Hell actually, it's not just that, it's unlikely to be able to get us out in the first place.

And I'd actually push back on a lot of that stuff you're saying we can't get. I don't think ranked choice voting is luxury - I think it's absolutely necessary to end fascist power in much of the fascist threat in the US. There is no way out of this where the Republicans can continue to gerrymander red states into eternally unbreakable political strongholds which suppress minority involvement in government.

We may not be getting UBI, but actually we probably should get single payer healthcare in the works at least. So long as we're rebuilding the government from scratch we might as well do this part of it right and not in a way that continues to fuck over the most vulnerable of us and is hideously unpopular at every level. It's a cost and labor saver too, it's actually harder for the government to administrate the existing clusterfuck than it would be to make this change.

Rebuilding our educational system with fully free college may not be on the table right out the gate, but massively restricting educational graft is going to be a bare minimum requirement to rebuild our educated federal workforce and start compensating for the cascading infrastructure issues coming due. Like, we just can't rebuild the existing damage with our existing college system, can't be done.

Fixing things is going to be slow and people will be resistant to radical change because they'll be in desperate and precarious circumstances, and that's understandable. But there's no "just trying going back to how it was before". That was the tailing off remnants of a decaying system, not a stable state which can be built up to and from. There's no way forward by going back, we have to go forward.

whenever people say shit like “i couldn’t be polyamorous, i’m so jealous and possessive. if my partner even LOOKS at another girl/guy i’m gonna kick them out of a window” i’m like well you should probably be working on that. like even if you don’t end up doing polyamory it’s probably good to not be like that

Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?

The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.

These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.

These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.

Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesn’t have these.

Yes, the glass will spontaneously crack or explode in the sun.

Why is the plane bleeding?

It’s a reference to survivorship bias. People often call trans people strong, but that’s because they only see the trans people strong enough to exist and live as themselves.

The relation to the plane is that during WW2 they’d reinforce parts of the planes that came back with bullet holes until someone came up with the idea that they should reinforce the parts of the planes that aren’t full of bullet holes. This is because the planes that came back with bullet holes where they were were still able to fly. It was the unarmored parts that, when damaged, caused the planes to crash. No one thought of this because they only considered the planes that returned, not the ones that were lost.

I don't want transness to be evidence of bravery. I want being trans to be so safe that the most cowardly trans person in the world is just as visible as the bravest. I want it to have absolutely no negative impact on our prospects for housing, jobs, etc. I want the only consequence of coming out as trans to be coming out as trans.

Shut the fuck up about courage. Go and make it unnecessary.

You're passing through Wonka's factory and through a doorway you see what is distinctly the body of Christ being fed into a big wacky machine

There's an oompa looma in a cardinal robe

it's important to know that this took approximately 1 (one) listenthrough of all five dracula flows to make this

(also listening to dracula flow while writing was a bad idea there is at least one spelling error in there)

Literally the body of Christ. And not literally in the theological cannibalism via transubstantiation sense, I mean he's going in feet first and fighting like hell.

this trans day of visibility, i want to highlight and celebrate intersex trans people.

society ignores intersex trans people and tries to erase this overlap. and also ignores complex intersex experiences around gender. society denies our intersexuality, or our transness, or both. even in queer circles we are often seen as "basically cis" or "basically trans" or "intersex aka own separate species that can have nothing in common with other queer people."

intersex trans people are often denied gender affirming care. intersex trans people get their bodily autonomy attacked both as intersex and trans. even in trans accepting circles like gender clinics, we often face ignorance and incompetence.

people feel entitled to know and question our anatomy, physiology, transition goals, identities — everything about us.

our bodies belong to us. our identities belong to us. our experiences belong to us.

we deserve bodily autonomy. we deserve representation. we deserve recognition. we deserve celebration. we deserve pride.

intersex trans people, i love you.

So in case anyone wanted more evidence of how government suppression of free speech is spreading globally, in the UK on Thursday evening (March 27th), twenty police officers broke into Westminster Quaker Meeting House in London and arrested six members of the group Youth Demand who met to discuss concerns about the climate and Gaza. The charge was apparently conspiracy to commit a public nuisance - this raid is a direct result of law changes in 2022 and 2023 designed to dramatically restrict people's ability to plan and carry out protests. In addition to breaking into the Meeting House, there have apparently been twelve related house raids and three other arrests.

This is horrifying. It is happening under an allegedly left wing government (our current PM Starmer is Labour, but that name doesn't really mean anything under his government). There is no harm caused in meeting to discuss ways to challenge the government, except to the government itself. Yet apparently, a simple meeting is enough to justify police armed with tasers and more than a dozen raids.

We are allowed to believe that change is necessary. We are allowed to discuss ways to make change happen - and across history, the most significant social changes have only been made possible thanks to protest.

Screw Labour and the UK establishment.

I want to add some more context about why this is so terrifying. The last time a Quaker Meeting House was violated like this in the UK was in the 1600s, to disrupt people who were exercising their right to freedom of religion. The state of free speech in the UK is apparently in a worse position than it has been for centuries - and certainly within living memory.

Our Meeting Houses are places of worship. They are places of peace and contemplation and it is so utterly disrespectful to break down our doors to stop people talking to each other. And I only know about this because I'm a Quaker myself, and I think it should be spread across the UK so people know how the state is actively working ageist us.

Please share this if you can.

Conspiracy to commit a public nuisance, what kind of fucking Orwellian bullshit is this? Hell who fucking cares if someone *is* conspiring to commit even a non political public nuisance worth slapping them on the wrist for? Let them do it and chastise them after the fact. There is absolutely no reasonable cause for this crime to exist that isn't exactly what it's being used for: Suppressing public dissent.

"CNC is fine as long as you're roleplaying as the victim" "ageplay is fine as long as you're not roleplaying as the adult" do you hear the words coming out of your mouth

what anti-kink people think kink scenes should be like

A lot of kinksters need to hear this too:

If it's okay for someone to want to be taken care of, then it's okay for someone to want to take care of them.

If it's okay for someone to want to be hit, then it's okay for someone to want to hit them.

If it's okay for someone to want to be degraded, then it's okay for someone to want to degrade them.

Etc, etc. Doms, daddies/mommies, and other "aggressors" are a necessary and IMPORTANT part of kink and wanting to fill those roles isn't an indication of some deep and terrible hidden urges or whatever. This goes for all the most extreme kinks you can think of; as long as everyone involved is an adult who is aware of the risks and consents to them, then there is nothing wrong with ANY of the roles and desires people are fulfilling through kink.

Also, this is a big part about why I speak on aftercare for doms so much! There's often a lot of shame and concern after a scene that's seen as taboo, and it's so important that they receive reassurance that they aren't a bad person, that what they did was welcome and asked for, and that they're loved.

Aftercare is so often only talked about for submissives and bottoms, and that's so damn important too, but this deserves more attention.

it’s disappointing when people talk about trans rights and then they only mention trans women.

Genderqueer, transmascs and transmen exists and they do not “get it easier” and it’s gross that people even have that mindset. No trans person has it easy.

Not to mention that thinking that misogyny doesn’t affect transmascs is harmful. My identity doesn’t change the anatomy I have and the laws being made to attack me for that. My identity doesn’t stop transphobic men from being misogynistic towards me because they quite literally see me as a girl.

the infighting in the lgbtq+ community at times like these is exactly why we are struggling so much and losing our rights.
