Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?

The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.

These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.

These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.

Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesn’t have these.

I recently ended up in a very weird argument on Tiktok with another progressive, ostensibly cishet guy recently that left me reeling.

So the guy hits the camera with this super short "vasectomies are gender affirming care, and they're also super pro choice...I wonder why we aren't talking about them??" 👀

And I responded, like a normalass person. "What the hell are you talking about about, man? How are vasectomies gender affirming care? This was delivered like you think someone's being hypocritical. Who???"

And his response was "Well, first of all, it allows men to have consequence-free sex, which men find gender affirming, and also men have a lot of bodily autonomy, and getting a vasectomy demonstrates that bodily autonomy, so that's also gender affirming. The people being hypocritical are right-wing, transphobic, anti-choice men who are getting vasectomies to feel more manly."

And after I walked around mumbling in confusion for several minutes I responded with "If you have encountered that person, wow, but that's in no way, like, "a thing", and secondly, thats not how masculine gender identity interacts with virility pretty much at all, especially in right wing circles, so thirdly, that's not what fucking gender affirming care means."

I'm left wondering who the hell he's been talking to. It was so completely orthogonal to anything either trans people or toxic masculinity-addled men have ever said in my presence. What cursed corner of the internet did he go to? What other things has he seen? Am...I the crazy one?

My thanks to the validation in the replies, I am glad that the general vibe is "I mean, I think he's got the spirit, but it seems like stretch/misunderstanding of the terms in question." I don't think he's a bad guy. I'm just fascinated by this horde of hypocritical Republican men sterilizing themselves but still being anti-birth control and trans people that he seems to view as force so ubiquitous that he doesn't even need to introduce the concept to the audience.

US authorities have turned to Europe for help with the country's severe egg shortage. The shortfall is due to bird flu, which has plagued the United States for several years.

The Finnish Poultry Association says it has been contacted about exporting eggs to the US. The organisation's executive director, Veera Lehtilä, told Yle on Saturday that exporting eggs does not seem to be possible at the moment because no market access negotiations have been held with US authorities. This can be a drawn-out process involving extensive inspections and studies.

According to the Danish magazine AgriWatch, the US has also requested eggs from Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands.

One of Sweden’s biggest egg producers, Kronägg, told the daily Aftonbladet that it is unlikely to export eggs to the US, saying it would be difficult due to various export restrictions. Meanwhile, there is also an egg shortage in Europe.

They also asked Germany, and idk about our northern neighbours, but one of the reasons we don't have problems like this is that every single living chicken in Germany, including bio, tiny and backyard flocks, has to be vaccinated against both salmonella and chicken pest.
