This fandom desperately needs to understand that Elain's happiness wouldn't fade away if Sarah decides to write her with Lucien. She's a fictional character. Her likes, wants and boundaries are what Sarah decides to be.

ACOLAM is the work I’m most self conscious about but it too holds a special place in my heart. Whenever I hear someone loves it, the story burrows deeper into me (in a good way)

Gwyn could feel the weighty gaze of Emerie and Nesta upon her as she sipped her wine. In truth she wasn’t thirsty and she’d drunk much more than intended, but she needed a break from answering their incessant questions. Her mouth being full wouldn’t stop them.

“Are you alright?” Emerie pressed, uncorking a third bottle of wine.

No, Gwyn thought, swallowing. 

Instead she shrugged her shoulders. “I will be.” 

Nesta leaned forward from where she sat cross-legged beside Emerie on the plush rug, placing a gentle hand on Gwyn’s knee. “What can we do?”

Gwyn smiled wryly, reaching for the bottle of wine Emerie had opened. She poured herself another hearty glass. “Continue to drink with me.” 

Nesta frowned, withdrawing her hand and turning her gaze to the private library’s roaring hearth. “Are you angry with Elain?” 

Gwyn shook her head. “No, no. She’s an innocent third party. She’s done nothing to warrant my anger.” 

“Then you’re angry with Azriel,” Emerie said, raising her brows.

Nesta’s head snapped back in Gwyn’s direction. It was the priestess’s turn to avert her gaze. She let her eyes scan the books on the shelves while she sifted through her mind on how best to reply. Was there any reason to really be angry with Azriel? If anything he should be angry with her.

When she showed him the sign for ‘complicated’, which required him to curl an uncurl his fingers, the wraps that always covered his hands seemed to give him some trouble. Azriel gestured for her to give him a moment, then rolled up his sleeves and began to unfurl the black bindings. Gwyn was spellbound as the fabric fell away, revealing flesh heavily mottled and scarred by what she could only guess were burns. His other hand was the same, and she desperately wanted to know what had happened. It must have been terribly painful, and the likely trauma was what held her tongue. Though her own scars were agonizing, they were invisible to the naked eye. Regardless, she wouldn’t want someone to prod at her for explanations.

Rhysand: I miss my sister. I miss being an older brother to her.

Gwyn: What do you miss about it most?

Rhysand: Everything. Annoying her. Teasing her. Being her conspirator and keeping her secrets. I have a family of my own now, but nothing can mend that loss.

Gwyn: It sounds like you were a good brother.

Rhysand: I tried to be.

Gwyn: I never had an older brother.

Rhysand: *softly* Would you like one?
